Lately a few webhosts have started selling HE bandwidth at prices close to CogentCo's.

How good is HE bw...How would it compare to say, Cogent, Verio, Global Crossing or even Level3?

What is the actual costprice of 100/1000mbit HE bw?

Thanks for your time and input!

Im in Fremont and one of them offering the prices near cogent. On 100mbit commit, i sell it for $75/mbit. On 1000mbit commit, never have before, but i bet i could do down in the $40-$50/mbit range or less. HE bandwidth is Verio, InterNap, NAC, Williams and about 10 others BGP4'd into it. They offer 9 exchange points all over the US and they own their own network.

Just wanted to post a clarification there...He.net doesn't buy from people like nac...we PEER with them in some places...we operate our own backbone, with multiple egress points nationwide.

I am trying to understand your statement here, Reid. Are you saying that Hurricane Electric is a Tier 1 and does not purchase transit from any other network?

Gee, If I wasn’t mistaken I’d say you’re buying IP transit from MFN.

Well what do we have here, Oh yes, Hurricane Electric buying from Williams Communications.

No, I was just saying that we didn't buy from Nac, or Rackspace, or anyone else who does colo on this board...Just trying to educate...not start a war. Never said we were transit-free...
