Hey all,

I might be starting a new host, so I am looking for a good control panel. I am very interested in the WHM and Cpanel. Meanwhile, I have found that VDI is no longer associated with www.cpanel.net, and the only place I can find the Cpanel is BURSTNET...

See, BurstNET is not a reputable host as mentioned in many forums including WHT, but they are the only one distributing Cpanel and WHM. Check out:

http://www.burst.net/cp/

I can rent one for only $99 for external servers (as far as I can see, it means servers that are not hosted by Burst.net??)

But should I trust them? Their FAQ is down, and they are well-known for not answering emails, I am kind of frustrated.

Please advise.

Thanks!

David

David, I believe that http://www.vdi.net is also distributing them, though not sure who else now. I'd also contact Matt @ Site5 to see if they are offering it.

The changes in the licensing and the product itself make it a bit hard to follow, but external wouuld be servers not in the Burst NOC, correct.

VenturesOnline.com (http://www.venturesonline.com) has CPANEL and I think WizardsHosting.com (http://www.WizardsHosting.com) does too which are both reputable.

But cpanel.net claimes that they are no longer associated with VDI, and they recommend Burst.Net for Cpanel distribution. I might be wrong though.

I checked out VDI just now, same price as Burst.Net. Which one should I go with?

Exactly. Cpanel and VDI split up. They now both have the source code for the product and soon they will both have their own version of Cpanel. I think DarkOrb will be coding a "new" Cpanel from scratch and it will be called NocSoft.

Also, one of the DarkOrb programmers is a system admin at Burst (if I understand correctly), so that could ba an advantage...
