Hi,

is it hard to set up a delicated server for my own forum?

What is the different in terms of setting databases uploading, is it the same as getting a shares server hosting?

*bangs his head on the desk*

Here is a few questions...

1. Do you know how to configure and setup apache?
2. Do you know what "root" is?
3. Name 1 editor to edit files in ssh.

Answer all 3 correctly and it wont be hard :D

Most likely not. Unles you want to spend extra on a managed server...

Hello,

You *could* use a control panel like CPanel. It would do the majority of what you want.

If you want a forum page then go for Shared Hosting. Dedicated server is may not right for you.

Hi, thanks for info,

shared hosting sometime got alot of restriction like if you are taking too much of the resources this and that..

so I was thinking maybe I can buy a delicated server..

If your forum is real big, then a shared hosting account might not be big enough for your forum. I know plenty of forums like it. If its real big then you could go into a Managed Dedicated Server.

Just by installing cpanel will do it all?

cPanel is the easiest thing to use and everything explains itself. Its very easy to use and very good. Everything else, you might get confused.

I have a reseller thats on an ensim control panel, I don't like it, but hey I got the reseller for free :D and very happy about it

I really never went through and experienced virtual servers. But I think their like a smaller version of a dedicated server. I havent seen one virtual server go over 60 gigs transfer

nocster selling one with over 100gigs..

But I am not sure does it has the same benefits as delicated server? Got any restriction as shared servers?

Yea, I just seen their Virtual Server. Its set at a good price also.

How much bandwidth is your forum taking up?

currently not over 30gigs.. but I am preparing for it to grow..
I hate to upgrade this and that so I am thinking of taking a server and solve all the problems.

how about you?

Like I've said at least a dozen times before I would go with a resellers plan such as http://www.dathorn.com/hostingplans.php (dathorn.com) which gives you the most bang for your buck.

Also you specified that your budget is "Monthly not more than $10 (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111291#post886709)" I'm afraid that you'll have to pay at least $80/mo for a managed dedicated server that usually does not include WHM/cPanel.

However you asked for a recommendation and well I'll give you one, $96/mo (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111937).
