View Full Version : Anything I can do?

I can't access my own web page, but others can. At first I thought Apache was down, but it's not because others can access the page. I get a "Page cannot find server" error. The FTP works, I can access that fine, but I can't access the site. I cleared my temp internet files and cleared my history. Still no work.

The only thing left that I can think of is that it's on my ISP's end. I called them but it's some "after hours answering service", where they take your name and number and have someone call you during business hours.

It's just this one site though, is there anything I can do to possibly fix this on my end? Thanks. :)

It is definitely a local DNS issue if you can access it via IP but not the domain, and will probably resolve when your ISP updates its DNS tables (like waiting for nameservers to propagate). If it doesn't fix itself within a few days, call your ISP and see if they can do it manually.

Until then, you can use a proxy: http://www.space.net.au/~thomas/quickbrowse.html

I had the same problem once.

You could also setup your network connection to use your companies DNS servers and see if that fixes the problem.

That's usually a quick fix

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying, Netherben. Do you mean set the web page's DNS to my ISP's?

I mean under network settings, under TC/IP configuration it asks for IPs for DNS servers, usually it is set to Auto.

You could replace the auto with the IP addresses of the DNS servers for your website.

Shouldn't this be in the "Technical & security Issues" forum?

Probably. As you may know by now, no useful posts are made in this forum. ;)
