Hello,

As the title to this reply states we are looking for someone from MC Host to help us out. This is now the second day we have had a LOT of problems that our damaging not only our Business but our clients Business too.

Many MC Host customers may be aware that a few days ago MC Host moved customers on their old Hawaii machine over to their new Antigua machine, I understand the move will benefit us as customers in the long run but have to say that the move has been handled poorly.

First off I did not know nor did 5 other people I have spoken to that MC Host has any intention of moving people, how difficult would it have been to send clients on the Hawaii server an email??. Secondly the move has caused havoc, although Marc claims on the MC Host forum that the move is complete I have to say that’s not true because I and a lot of others have still got MAJOR problems that need sorting out. I have tried sending support tickets luckily Marc did reply to them but the most I got was three lines which seemed to be copied and pasted from the forum announcement and was of no use whatsoever.

I have tried posting in the forum but all I gain is other clients who have problems adding to the post with more complaints. I am unable to telephone MC Host due to the fact it could cost me a lot of money as I am in the UK.

For the benefit of any MC Host staff reading the problems us and many others are experiencing are mainly related to:-

SQL Databases - PHP Scripts not working*
Neomail not working at times
Not being able to access WHM
Fantastico not installation scripts properly
A worrying loss of data in one SQL database
Non arrival of a new "welcome E-Mail"

* Please please please do not tell us to "Re add usernames to the MY SQL databases" because we have done this and the scripts STILL do not work, I feel that you will need to take time and let us know what we have to do in more depth, failing that I think you will need to at least attempt to fix the problems your customers are having with MY SQL databases yourself.

I am sorry to have to bring this to WHT because its a matter that should be dealt with either through Support tickets or the MC Host forum but I and a few others believe the only way we are going to get this resolved is if we post our problems publicly and its a shame we have to do this in the hope we may receive some help and support.

I sincerely hope MC Host can sort out the problems and return to the excellent company they were when we signed up a while ago. It would be a shame to see MC Host lose the loyalty and respect of its customers.

I suppose all we can do is hope for a good outcome to this unfortunate occurrence

David

I am not connected with MChost but I believe you should phone them. Could not see on their website a phone number but if you have one give them a call.

To be honest price should not really be an issue. Call rates from UK-US are very low. With certain telecom companies charging "local-rate" prices.
Furthermore if it is affecting your business and your clients business a few dollars is a small price to pay.

MCHost has promised a telephone number for months now, but the only ones they have right now go to answering machines in Paris and Sydney!

again, choosing a webhost is like choosing whether your web business goes up hill or downhill.

never assume that a host will be as good as some tell them to be, since there's always that slight chance that those who are putting up good reviews about a host might be working for that particular host.

only trust those who do know a thing or two about hosting, and based on the reading I have done about McHost... the only thing I can say is.... "POOR MANAGEMENT / SUPPORT"

I am not trying to put them down, but if a client (or in this case a whole whack of people) does have a problem, you should never instruct them the same thing you instructed them before. The best way to know something isn't right is when your clients start rebelling because it obviously isn't them, it's you.

Just some friendly advice to a struggling host.

Just a quick update to say that Marc has sent me a reply to my last ticket. The reply was much more in depth and Marc kindly asked for more information so he could look further into the problems we are having.

Like I said in my reply to Marc I hope this signals a return to the days of excellent service and support which made MC Host a great hosting company.
