CRego3D 05-18-2001, 07:11 AM 2mbps for 300.00 is impossible .. let alone the d-server
I think you guys have to raise the budget a little bit more :(
Bojer 05-18-2001, 07:12 AM how about 1mbps ?
Bojer 05-18-2001, 07:16 AM 1500 Gb/month Bandwidth
thomas830 05-18-2001, 07:24 AM 1500 GB ~ 5Mbps
hehe if You find such deal for $300 let me know :D
Bojer 05-18-2001, 07:57 AM so , what about 1mbps ?
Bojer 05-18-2001, 07:58 AM and ~400$
I'm not from any hosting company. I still remember your post about your site pulling in 50GB a day. Never get to find out what website that is. I do wish to take a look at it :)
Anyway, you are going by mbps. The cheapest i find is www.maxim.net. But that would be co-location. So you need your own server.
It come close to your budget.
rackspace = $250
+
1 mbps = $230
1.5 mbps = $345
2 mbps = $460
So your colocation with 1mbps would cost you $480. Still $80 more :(
For your info, 1500GB needs 5mbps. So 1mbps is way below it.
dabystru 05-18-2001, 09:32 AM Why to stick to 1 or 2 Mbps and not to have shared DS-3 connection and pay by amount transferred? Bandwidth usage is sporadic and not even.
Paying by amount transferred will be much cheaper. I know at least of Kikko's $300-$400 plans which include 600 GB of traffic a month which is better than having 1 Mbps.
There are others I believe, I just don't track above $100 a month providers.
(Added later: sorry, I won't recommend Kikko after reading this (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=9551), but the advice is still valid: paying by amount trasferred will be cheapper than paying for dedicated 1 or 2 Mbps connection)
Bojer 05-18-2001, 09:34 AM I just recalculated our monthly transfer:eek:
we need 500Gb/month .

We are using Kikko now... Bojer, can you share your experiences with Kikko, may be not here, but in this thread (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=9551)? I think I was the first on this board who discovered them (initially they had under $100 "unlimited" dedicated servers) and now the comments I see from people trying to sign up with Kikko are quite controversial. Will you share your experience?
Bojer 05-18-2001, 09:59 AM please see a new topic http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=11086
