We are trying to add an ftp account to our cpanel v 5.3.0 so that we can have our sales department manage their own area of the website, and for some reason we can't do it. We have tried to add it, but then we just can't login...and we seem to have tried everything.
Can anyone explain exactly how to create and then login to an ftp account that has been created on an account?
Your help is greatly needed!

hello!
I'm a newbie with cpanel myself.. i just start working with it 3 days ago.
How are u doing the login?
I think that as userame u have to add :
user@domain
i.e : sales@hostingcompany.com
Dunno if it helps, but i tried :P
regards
If sales needs their own area I suppose you would give them their own folder/subdomain? If so you could do the following:
Log into your CPanel:
- Create a sub domain named 'whateveryouwant'.
- Create an ftp account named 'whateveryouwant' (shown as whateveryouwant@yourdomain.com in your cpanel)
- Give it user name = whateveryouwant@yourdomain.com and a password.
To log into the new subdomain account via its own ftp:
- Host Address = whateveryouwant.yourdomain.com
- User ID = whateveryouwant@yourdomain.com
- Password = password you set for whateveryouwant ftp
The url to access via the browser is ftp.whateveryouwant.yourdomain.com
Hope this helps.
