Only one place http://www.sgnic.net.sg/ . If you are registering a .com , you will need to have a existing business in Singapore registered with the Registry of Companies and Businesses.

It is S$60/year for your first domain and S$120/year for your 2nd and subsequent domain name registration.

Alternatively, you could register a .com domain and buy much less.

Well, there are the .biz , .info , .ws , .nu , .tk , .tv .. just to name a few. Try http://www.godaddy.com

Or try an alternative name if you can.

How about adding sg in front of my name, eg www.sgkeyword.com?
Will the search engine or people can find my site using the 'keyword'?

When I register in godaddy or any others, then I host my web site in others, will it cost money to link these 2 together? What is 'transfer' domain name means?

GoDaddy is a Domain Name Registrar . They do have web hosting services but it does not mean you need to use them for it. You can have your web site hosted somewhere else.

There is no additional cost if you register your domain name at GoDaddy and host your website somewhere else.

'Transfer' domain name means what it say, if you register your domain name at say Network Solution and if you want to transfer registrar from them to GoDaddy, that qualifies as 'Transfer DOmain Name'. If you transfer to Godaddy, they will add another year to the existing expiration date.

Thanks Eddy.

I search through and can't find any cheaper and better than godaddy. I will register there right now.

Which hosting company is the best(cheap and good) for beginner and for example can run this forum?

Why don't you post your request in 'Web Hosting Request' forum in Advertising or check out the Promotions in those forum.

Do list what your requirements are in terms bandwidth, web space and so on.

Basically, Cpanel based web host has PHPBB is part and parcel of the Control Panel.

I had 4 .com.sg domains thru Speednames.com
They required paperwork to file with the Singapore government. It took a few days just to get the domain.

I went to Advertised Forum and the only thing I got from there is tons of confusion. I really don't know which is good and not so good. I just want to have a cheap and reliable hosting to start with. Those that I can easily setup forum discussions like this forum, PHPBB. Can anyone recommend?

You probably need to define the three parameters, how much space you need, how much bandwidth you need and how much you are willing to pay.

If you want to host the 10 sites on one account, you could look into a reseller's account or a multiple domain account. In Cpanel, they call multiple domain as 'Add-on Domains'.

For the start, my requirement is very little, and I also can't predict how successful my site is. I just need a relaible company to start with, and start small, about S$5-10 a month, and can grow big later.

S$5 to $10 (US$3 to $6) would probably on the very low-end. Try posting your requirements in 'Web Hosting Requests' and see who bites. It might be difficult to find someone good at that price range but you could try.

But if you are talking about US$30 to US$60 a month in total, you should be able to get a much better deal.
