View Full Version : READ THIS- STAY AWAY FROM AIT Inc.!
I signed up with them in may 1997!
Yep 1997!
I moved away from them to a better company in may 2001! (VO is all I can say, go find out details on your own please.)
AIT Inc. is awful. I have put in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Raleigh, NC.
They might claim to have have some 150,000 domains with them, but their service is amazingly bad! not even a bad host will have a service this BAD!
They have cost me approximately $230,000 in business revenues due to their absolutely horrendous support. Support is a misnomer for them, it should renamed - *******-In-Tech support!
They managed to completely destroy my client's database (one of the first legal databases in INDIA!!). And he is a copyright lawyer who deals with people like Joel Silver! As a result of their complete disservice he left me. These *******s told me they could do nothing to solve the problem (I still have the the emails (with full header info from them) to prove this from six months ago!)
But that is just the beginning of the nightmare with AIT (perhaps in some language this translates as ******* In Team, a.k.a. mlitary-men-discharged-dishonorably-so-we-could-****-people)
STAY AWAY FROM AIT Inc.!!!! http://aitcom.net
I have been with these ******** (sorry again) since 1997! And they have royally screwed me over with their idiotic prices and NO SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEWARE OF AIT inc.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE *******S ay Advanced Internet Technologies (advanced enough to screw you over)!!!!!!
And AIT! Your BBB audit is coming your way soon! Look for it in your mailbox ********!
I was taken advantage of by these people who are whores in the web hosting industry! Dont you be!
STAY AWAY FROM AITCOM.NET - THE ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING HOST YOU COULD FIND!!!

Martie 05-17-2001, 02:13 PM Duster...one of the members here has had experience with AIT too. He will probably come around and post about it. You are not alone ;)
Here is one of those in-depth posts!

gawd!
it feels so nice to be able to talk about AIT (Advanced Internet/Idiot Technologies) after I have moved all my data to a much much better host.
i wish more people will come and share their recent experiences with AIT Inc. on this discussion , so that it doesnt die that soon and hope AIT dies a horrible death soon after.
STAY AWAY FROM AITcom.net
AIT is the spawn of Satan!!!!!!!! (In my experienced opinion!)
AIT > DIE DIE DIE!

Foo-Dawg 05-17-2001, 04:49 PM AniG, why have you been with them for so long if they were so bad?
determinist 05-17-2001, 05:26 PM http://aitcom.net/.. Are they also http://nameit.net/?
nelson 05-17-2001, 05:45 PM Yes they are connected to nameit, securelook.com and also I believe advinte.com.
I have been using the nameit site since last july and have not had any problems except a few errors on their site, but they resolve fairly quickly. They are affordable.
Duster 05-17-2001, 06:34 PM Hi AniG,
You have my sympathies and understanding, I used AIT in the past and had bad experiences with them. My very first post here (March of last year) was about them and you can read it at the link Martie furnished.
Filing a complaint with the BBB is good to alert others. It won't do more than that, though. You can probably accomplish more by putting a page on your web site describing your experiences with them. That's what I did (see http://techcellence.net/files/ait.htm) Several months ago, I received an e-mail from someone who was about to switch to them. He had told his assistant to thorougly research them. He sent me a copy of the message he sent to AIT stating why he was passing on doing business with them, and included a link to my page.
While most people looking for hosts won't see it, I was quoted in last month's Web Hosting magazine about web hosts and service, and they did briefly mention my feelings AIT. Heh hehe hhe, an unhappy ex-customer, the gift that keeps on giving.
AIT has also posted here recently in violation of the posting rules and has been banned. They did the usual fake 'we've got a great host' hoorah that ends as soon as you ask 'what's your URL'? Instead of posting openly in the advertising forum, where hosts are allowed to post, they chose trickery and deceit in the general forum. It was met with the response it merits.
Unlike you, I left AIT before they cost me greatly. Their attitude was terrible (they are apathetic and incompetent). You can't change that about people (it's hard enough to change in yourself), so I saw that a change in hosts was necessary.
They shut me down like a bratty child when I complained to them about their poor service. By them I had already transferred my clients accounts so it was just an incovenience for a weekend for my non commercial site about diving. Otherwise, I would have filed legal action against AIT.
If your situation warrants it, you might file a complaint the state attorney general for North Carolina. If you do a search on the forum, you should find a URL for all the S.A.G.s for the U.S. If not, I'l dig it up again.
Don't worry about the word about them dying down. Anyone that comes here considering AIT is leaving either with a new host or the word "moron" tatooed on their forehead! :D

I sense pure enjoyment in that statement!! :)
Duster 05-17-2001, 08:06 PM You did indeed. Of course, a blind Down's Syndrome person should be able to discern my enjoyment in saying that. ;)
AIT got me once, lasting several months. I get to pay them back many times just by telling the truth. Sometimes life is very fair.
By the way, Ani, AIT stands for Apathetic Incompetent Troglodytes (or Turds).

Just in case anyone was thinking that "Proud Member of VeriHost" seal on the AIT website actually meant something...
By the way, their name's no longer filtered out? So it shouldn't be long til we see a bunch of rave reviews posted by AIT employe.... er, "customers."
m6.net 05-18-2001, 02:17 AM OMG, in past I was concern to get verisign seal on our web site. No more.
AniG, why have you been with them for so long if they were so bad?
Anig, even I am curios, what made you stick with them for 3 years. Why all of sudden after 3 years you started swearing on them???
Duster 05-18-2001, 06:32 AM Uh Sanjay, I've been pretty tired working on a web site lately. Here it is 6:30 am and I've been working all through the night. However, even without coffee, I know that from May of 97 to May of 2001 is 4 years! ;)
I too wondered what took him so long to move. I found out in a few months how bad AIT was and left after a year. Surely it was evident a move was needed long before 4 years had passed.
All those who are wondering why I stayed with AIT for so long:
Well, when I started with them in 97 they weren't bad at all. Their reseller packages were the best I found (then) in terms of the options/cost ratio. Also then i didn't need or much use the bells and whistles that have become commonplace now, like MySQL, PHP etc. The last 6-8 months was a nightmare with them! Their service is incredibly bad now. Perhaps its because they have grown too big for their shoes. And their Tech Support is a joke! You won't believe the kind crap i received from their tech support. Suddenly, out of the blue their telnet access would stop working and I would have to call them long distance ($2/min) to have it restored! Plus I had to email their COO to get any attention at all in the first place. And without telnet I couldn't maintain my databases. They charge you some $18/month for a web based interface for MySQL. How dumb is that? It took months to get any problem resolved, if at all.
Once I lost a major client because of their disservice, I knew one way or the other I had to move. And I searched a lot for somebody who could offer me similar options/price. In fact, I was going to go with *****, until i stumbled up here.
Also, I did not know about this resource [WHT] or anything remotely similar then. The popular Web Host review sites are mostly useless, in my opinion. Once I found this resource, there was no turning back. And I found a great host with incredible service, and much better price. My main business isn't web hosting, so I have cut down costs but maintain a high level of service at the same time.
I guess in end I am the wiser, even if I was late in getting wisdom. So thats the gist of it. :)

P.S. Sanjay, FYI I did post a coupla messages here in another (no-Duster) thread a few weeks ago about them, but I removed it in fear of what they would do to my account if they read it. I waited until I had completely moved my data out.
Duster,
Thanks for the offer of getting some URLs for the SAG in NC. Or perhaps lawyers in Raleigh you could recommend (but you are in Miami Beach, so I dunno if you could :)). If its not too much trouble, perhaps you could email me their info. I am India, so suing AIT would be a major hassle for me, but I have been thinking about it, seeing the amount of potential revenue I have lost solely due to their incompetence.
Thanks for your help and words of understanding.

I used them from early 1998 to early 1999. They seemed pretty good at forst (except for billing, always a problem). It took a few months for their true nature to come out.
And their Tech Support is a joke! You won't believe the kind crap i received from their tech support.
You're wrong on both counts. It's no joke because I sure wasn't laughing and I have an exceptionally well developed sense of humor. It doesn't sound like you were laughing either. It wasn't a joke, it was a nightmare, one we both woke up from (you were just asleep much longer than me). ;)
You're wrong on another point also. I would (and do) believe what you went through.

Me neither. I resolved never to be taken in by another lousy host and started investigating. In the course of my investigation, I learned how those other rating sites work. One even admitted to me that ratings were all paid advertising.
I had determined to get my own server and this site was very helpful as part of my investigation. I chose a company I've been very happy with that also happens to be close by and I've had my server there for the past year plus.

A very wise decision. They would very likely have shut down your account. I'd almosat guarantee it. They closed mine when I complained to them, not about them.
m6.net 05-20-2001, 10:57 PM Duster - thanks for refreshing my calculation (silly mistake!)
Anig - Thanks for clearing my curiosity
