Okay i've got a fun question, how many machines does everybody have in their house? Counting all the sparcs station 5 in the garage (yes they all work) we have over 80, with 46 of them plugged in! We don't run the vacuum for fear that it will blow the circuit breaking, not to meantion it gets hot in the house... i might post some pictures later...

My new one, HP Pavilion..
My old one, project use only now. An eMachines that's half in the case half all over the place, still up and running with Caldera Linux
An older Dell, p2
A Generic, AMD 486, DX4 100mhz, 20mb Hard drive.
A burned out Wyse, 286 @ 8.5mhz
A few of them old IBM 386sx's that I got in one of those "If you're gonna take one thing, you're taking everything!" :)

ckizer.. 80 in your garage?! Pictures of that would be quite interesting.

Well, I have three in active use:

1 Toshiba Laptop C700/192/10GB/DVD/13" (Dual WinME/Linux)
1 HP Laptop C550/128/5GB/CD/13" (WinME)
1 HP Desktop C700/128/20GB/CD/CDRW/17" (WinME)

Then I have a few others currently in mothballs:

1 Sun Sparc 2 64/2GB (Solaris 2.6)
1 Dec Alpha Workstation 266/192/4GB/CD (Non Functional RH 5.2 Linux)
1 Apple IIc 128K/2 Floppies (Apple DOS 3.3/ProDOS 8)

I use the Toshiba most often, and I'm on it now. My wife is the primary user of the HP Laptop, and we both use the desktop to burn CD's, surf, and print stuff.

I tried to wirelessly network the whole thing, but Intel's Anypoint networking is just far too slow...

Take care,

Brian

Number varies. Got a few antiques in the garage, a few "parters" in the basement, and a laptop on my desk. The rest got moved into our new office about a month ago.

At the "max" period, I had 1 NT server, 1 Linux Server, about 6 windose boxes and 2 laptops in my bedroom. Didn't have to run the heat much that winter. :)

There are two machines currently at my home.

a) Compaq Presario - PIII 933Mhz - 64 RAM, 20GB h/d
b) An 'assembled PII 350 - 64 RAM, 4.3 GB h/d.

The assembled pc is currently dual W98/Linux install which is used mostly by wife to play games and for my daughter to play her edutainment cdrom games. If they let me, I will convert it into a full fledged Linux server.

The first m/c I used was a 8088 with 640K ram and 4.5 MB h/d.

Lith here has a HP 9000. Interesting and brings back old memories..
When I first set my eyes on one some 10-11 years back it was considered awesome and cost the equivalent of a nice house in one of the bigger Indian cities. Whole IT operations of many companies was run on this. Those days I used to be a C/Sybase programmer on one of those machines.

... and I was wondering where all that money disapeared...

You guys have lots of spare time to hook up 80 computers in your garage ;)

We have 4 computers... and we're 3 living here... one each + central proxy / file / internet server.

From p2 300 to p3 800; from 64 to 256 ram; from 4 to 100 GB HD space

Disregarding the numerous pieces of 8088s, 286s, 386s, and 486s scattered about (they'be been pillaged for spare parts but I could probably build 4 or 5 complete systems out of them), the list would be:

-- Celeron 366 running win95
-- two DP celeron 550 systems, one running W2K the other running Mandrake
-- P3-700 running W2K
-- P3-600 laptop running W2K
-- Pentium 166 laptop running win95
-- Pentium 200MMX running OpenBSD (firewall)
-- Pentium 133 dual booting Mandrake + win95 (print/CDRW server)

Those last two are going to be swapped soon (HD controller on the 133 is dying) to give
-- Pentium 133 running PicoBSD (firewall), and
-- Pentium 200MMX running Mandrake (print/CDRW server)
