Yeah so I would love my own data center I say to my self, but havn't ober one mill a year to have one lol.

But whats the next option COLO?

What the best place in the UK for colo with a nice bit of BW, or even better a nice place with like a rented room with a very good connection to it?

If there is a place that I could put in lots of servers, and a small office ect, but with a great connection at a reaosnable price, would someone mind saying.

Also how much is a 2 meg line in the uk, and would it be suitable to have one server on one 2 meg line, so if i had 100 servers they would all have there own 2 meg line, and would i need it leased or can i go for somehting like ADSL or Cable 2 meg lines?

Regards

Steve

HI Steve,
I am afraid you have posted in the wrong place here, because if I am mistaken you are looking for views on what you should do, not "offering dedicated deals" which this section of the forum actually deals with.

If a MOD could please move this that would be great.

p.s. Steve.... I think I answered your question before in another section of this forum.. (http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=851087#post851087)

and just to answer one of your questions.... Telecoms companies DO NOT (this is disallowed according to their terms and conditions) allow you to have hosting servers or servers of any kind on the end of their home lines (i.e. ADSL, CABLE)! And therefore a leased line is your only options I am afraid.

frostie, in the UK some telecoms companies do, and they will often give you static IP's etc... As long as its nothing illegal.

I allow my ADSL clients to run servers on their line as they have static ip's. So long as they dont start causing a disruption in anyway - i see no problem with it.

I have just started rolling out my ADSL services in the UK and so far my current clients have had no restrictions in terms of running servers, and i dont think i will impose any rules against it just yet.

What kind of spec line sare they, 2 meg lines, 50 meg lines lol?

I think I am better of going with a data center my self, otherwise I think I will be paythrough the roof, also wouldn't be bale to host more than one site on a 2 meg line not leased lol

I have sent you some information.

You can't upload data on ADSL lines as quickly as you can download (the "A" stands for asynchronous) - this means that even if you have a 2mb ADSL line, you would only be able to upload data to people viewing pages at 0.25mb (for example).

Also, ADSL lines are contended, which means that you share the bandwidth with upto 50 other people in your area - so at busy times your connection can slow to a halt... especially with the increasing numbers of people signing up for broadband.

If you're serious about hosting stuff yourself, you need a leased line from a decent supplier with a good SLA . Leased lines are uncontended and can upload and download at the same rate.

Even better, rent a rack in a carrier neutral datacenter, or get in touch with someone that has spare space!
