For me I will use Corel Photo Paint.
1. change color mode to grey skill.
2. select the mask.
3. drop a shadow
4. save

You can use PhotoShop to it.
1. Load your picture
2. Remove the background with the Magic Wand tool (the stick)
3. Right click on the layer (in the layer tab) and choose effects and press OK.
4. Choose from the menu.. Image > Mode > Grayscale
These are the basic steps you could do to get that effect. You can play around with it to get it the way you like it.
Good luck.

You can do this in Photoshop ^^^^ See above. But also, for drop shadow, it depends on what version you have. Please PM me and I can help you.

Since you have PS6, this is really easy!! Follow zolbian's instructions, then double click on the layer and select 'Drop Shadow' from the left hand menu in the menu that pops up. Change the mode to normal from multiple and play around w/ angle, opacity, etc.
If you have more questions, justs ask..... :)
