Hi,

I am having to change companies and move all my clients etc...

What I want to know is:

I don't want to change me nameserver, I want to keep ns1 and ns2 but just on different IP's, however I need to keep the current server online with these nameserveres till I, transfered all the accounts to the new server, what I thought if I setup the new server with the same nameserver and different ip's, then when I am ready for the new server to go online, just changed the nameservers ip's at the register end. Is this going to work ?

Does anyone know if the transfer account feature works in WHM ?

Regards,
Garry

I recently moved from reselling on a shared server to a dedicated server. Both have WHM/Cpanel. When the dedicated server was built it was configured with my existing nameservers but it seems to pick up the ip addresses from the web. I didn't change the ip addresses on my server, I just changed them at my domain registrar when I was ready. I just used the ip address to reach the new server in the meantime.

Moving the accounts from one WHM server to another was so easy, it was almost a pleasure :) If you have root access on the old server you can move all your accounts over in one go - you just feed it the ip address of the old server and the root password. I didn't have root access to my old server. I had to transfer each account individually and feed it ip address, username and their password. I had a session open to WHM on the old server and just changed each users' password as I was ready to copy across their account. It copies everything - db's, mail settings, subdomains etc. I have very little trouble with it.
