After reading some of the posts on this forum, one gets the impression that Rackshack should be rather be called Racksucks. But that is not my impression ...
I signed up with them on Friday, and the server was ready for use within 5-10 minutes after completing the order form. I subsequently ordered 4 more IP addresses, and also received updates on a daily basis about the progress of the order, which is being delayed somewhat due to some programming problem (but that is being sorted out as we speak).
The only aspect that I find irritating, is the fact that their site uses an ASP frontend, written in such a way that it is virtually impossible to bookmark any specific section of the site.
And yes, they tend to get you going at a very low base, and almost every additional component/service item is being charged for. But make your own sums, they are still far cheaper over the long run (i.e. a period of 6-12 months), even when you add more memory and IP addresses.
Anyway, the following snippet appears on their site, and it explains a lot about their operation:

How Do We Do It?
That is a great question. With average industry price as much as 300-400% higher than our prices, you just gotta wonder.
First, we own our own network in Texas. Transmitting traffic between our facilities on our own network is simply the most cost effective.
Second, our parent company also owns an ISP, Everyones Internet which uses a lot of bandwidth to serve over 150,000 users. Most of the bandwidth comes from the Internet, leaving many many many megabytes of traffic to the Internet that can be recycled. The arrangement dramatically reduces our cost of operations.
Third, we share data center space with Everyones Internet. Again, lower costs allow lower prices.
Fourth, we buy in volume. Our latest order from Cobalt totaled over U.S. $1,000,000. When you buy that much at one time, you get one incredible price.
Fifth, our sales, provision and support processes, are highly automated. As a result, Everyones Internet costs to service your account are very low.
We don't host porn. It simply consumes too many resources, bandwidth and otherwise, in comparison to our rates.
Bottom Line: Our Team has built Rack Shack in the most efficient manner possible without compromising quality. We will continue to explore new ways to reduce costs, increase quality, and improve value.
Keep in mind: Everyones Internet has NEVER RAISED the price of its "just $10 Bucks" dial up service, even though new and additional features are regularly added.
We Know Cobalt. We Know Hosting. We Know Value!

Bottom line is, if you know Linux and don't need a lot of technical support, they are the right people to go for.

ps - No, I don't work for them :)
