CRAVIS 05-18-2001, 06:54 AM I can highly recomend ECUI for both virtual and dedicated win 2000 services. About maximumASP - i've seen only good reviews about them, no complaints at all.
Aloha Cravis
Mahalos for the answer
man ya look upset in that picture of ya ;)
did ya get a ticket for misparking your saucer or was it speeding
hehhehehehehee
A joke of course
thats a cool freaky photo
would be cool to get good makeup and do that for Haloween
Halloween here in Lahaina is HUGE
anyways thanks for the response
CRAVIS 05-19-2001, 01:25 AM Aloha Honu,
I have a hosting customer - 3D animator. This picture is a gift from him. Maybe its good to ask him for a smile on the face of my avatar :D It really looks mad
Adam_S 05-19-2001, 09:14 AM MaximumASP have a good rep. Their .net extra is a tempting feature. A little pricey compared to other US Win2K hosting providers. But they are prolly one of the better of them. :stickout
thanks adam
yeah was curious I know they are more
but if all there techs are MS certified adn they have answered questions quick etc.....
so far
guess ya get what ya pay for
Cravis
yeah but that is what is so darn cool about it
man I love it
aliens alwyas look so unemotional in pics ya see of em
(in real life of course they have emotions hehehehe)
so love the shot of that
very cool
CRAVIS 05-20-2001, 09:53 AM :D :D :D
Lonny 05-20-2001, 02:13 PM I heard they are a very good host, actually an excellent host, however if they are prices are too high, you coulf try http://www.securewebs.com
Cheers!
wallaby 05-24-2001, 08:12 AM To all those folks who recommended ECUI for Win2000 dedicated servers: I've now emailed them twice over the last few days to say am very interested in a server and asking for responses to some questions. Their packages look excellent -- esp the amount of software included and the control panel options.
All I had was an auto-generated reply to say someone would contact me. No other response. If sales is that bad, what's tech support gonna be like?
I _did_ ask whether their dedicated servers were real physical separate machines or "virtual dedicated" servers. I really hope that they are not virtual...
Shame. Anyone know of good Win2000 ded server people, esp with control panels for server admin and for end-users?
Lonny 05-24-2001, 08:19 AM why don't you try securewebs.com ?
wallaby 05-24-2001, 09:38 AM I looked at SecureWebs' website but could not get any kind of handle on what was or wasn't incluced in their pricing. Seemed you paid the money for basically a bare server with Win2k installed. I can get those in the UK (maybe at slightly more cost) but was really after a "fully loaded" solution. Just like ECUI...
Lonny 05-24-2001, 01:15 PM Fully loaded with what?
components you mean?
you could try innerhost.com
Aloha
well ECUI answered my emails personally quite quickly I might say but not really answer my qustions
here are some examples
I thought they were legit questions :
Q?:
Aloha for yor virtual servers what kind of servers are they
specs please I saw the faq but does not say
what CPU ?
single dual or ??
memory ?
HD ?
raid ?
scsi ?
etc...
thanks
A:
Sir,
The answers to your questions are totally dependent upon the actual server
plan your discussing, and even then it becomes a matter of what server the
domain is actually provisioned on. We utilize servers from 3 companies HP,
Compaq and IBM and several models which tend to change as old models are
phased out.
I'm a bit unsure as to the concern your apparently expressing over a shared
server, as obviously they can perform their required task or they would not
be in use. ECUI is one of the only companies who actually self imposes
limits to the number of domains hosted on each server plan, and this is
guaranteed by the fact that clients are "NOT" permitted to split a virtual
plan and resell portions thereof. Our lowest end Virtual Server Plan, the
Mini Server, only permits for a maximum of 256 domains per server, about 25%
of what other hosting companies place on the same type of server.
Sincerely,
OK this did not answer my question so I am still kind of at a loss the way they answered it is not clear !!!
I love there reply
"I'm a bit unsure as to the concern your apparently expressing over a shared
server"
well DUH ECUI answer the questions pull your head out !!!
SO I wrote back to them again
Q?:
Aloha,
well I guess no concern really more or less wanted to know what kind of
machines on your virtual hosting plans ( the Lite Server and the Pro Server
to be exact) for running ASP on the win2k servers
my resons were that I wanted to make sure that they had over 512 memroy and
had scsi what kind of backup and what kind of CPU
I would not want to run my shared server for running a asp database project
on a pII 500 with 256 megs and a IDE HD
I hope you can understand this question and why I ask it ?
Aloha
Chad
A:
Yes, all shared servers have well over 512MB as to backups our standard
policy applies to shared servers:
**** NOTE VERY IMPORTANT ****
ECUI suggests that you always backup your web server, databases, and other
data. ECUI does perform daily backup of all Virtual and Unmanaged Dedicated
servers for internal use in the event of a server hardware failure only!
What that means is our backups are "not" available for client usage, for any
reason. I believe there was mention in the threads below referencing
ColdFusion, that is only available on Pro Server Plans, not Lite Plans and
that may change with the Macromedia release of version 5 where ColdFusion
becomes its own plan.
By the way, your PII 500 with 256MB and IDE combination is a bit out of
date, even for a "low" end dedicated server.
SO I did some timings and checked em out for a bit using
QWkMon and decided against them
not saying they are bad or good just passing it along ;)
MaximumASP has answered all responses with a good attitude and timely manner with what seems like very knowledgable staff
I must also say Jay at Pwebtech has been great on ICQ with me trying to help me out.
the one down side I have got from MaximumASP is that the setting up of virtual under me is still a idea with them
also www.datapipe.com :agree: seems to be very good with qwkmon
and they have a virtual plan that might work the one side in my research is that datapipe
also www.pwebtech.com :agree: and there NT plans will work and they have done very well by qwkmon
also www.dialtoneinterent.com :agree: has done very well by qwkmon
and www.efreeservers.com :agree: has done well by wqwkmon
hope this can help someone out ;)
wallaby 05-25-2001, 04:38 AM Tks for the pointers, folks. Compared to our ded Linux box, most are expensive and I'd need to buy extra software (iMail, LiveStats, probly some ASP components too...).
E-Freeservers looks like a possible, if only for the reasonable prices and Dell control panel.
I'll keep hunting... and try to move most of our Windows customers onto Linux :D
Aloha
well actually when y afigure out the box as a lease deal it is not to bad at efreeservers
they have been very good at responding to emails
I figure order a bare one like they have then send down a extra chip and memory they will install it for a one time charge of a $100 not bad
a 2nd chip under $200
a gig of killer cas2 ecc registered micron $400
the second 18K drive they offer for $ 200
so for $ 900 bucks ya get a dual with a gig of memory adn two a8 gig drives run em as raid 1 ya got a pretty good box there
for just under a grand setup
adn there times from here are better than anybodys at this point
also they extended there service plan to make sure you are locked in on bandwith price at that level for your 20 months
man 20 months goes by quick
I took contractual law at college can not remember much ?? my brother is a big lawyer on the mainland
might run it by him but even if ya have to buy the server it is not that bad of deal if there service goes down hill they have a % back thing (monitor it with a monitor provider) and if theservice of there bandwith goes ya got your rear covered at a dedicated place I am not figuring on much but to reboot etc.. if needed or fix hardware that goes down so
actually looks pretty good back to the lawyer bit if the comapny goes under you willnot have to buy the server
I am pretty sure on this becuase of the breach of length in there contract that they failed you in covering your service for specified time if they do go under
I think there biz plan is pretty soild in ideas
like others were saying that is a lot of bandwith most will not fill it
so either way efreeservers is looking like a good bet ??
I do wnat to here some feedback though ;)
goodnight it is late
and I am going diving tomorow whheeeeeeee
rsiera 06-22-2001, 05:02 AM Use to say that I'm a very satisfied ECUI customer. I choose ECUI after some suggestions that I read on this forum and I'm very glad I did.
