Hello all!

I am wondering if anyone knows of a Web site that i can buy a very CHEAP Apple iMac off of. It doesn't matter if it's refurbished, or used - i just need a well working iMac for my work, just until i can afford a better one :) And i don't want it from eBay! The prices can get ugly :(
Here are what i am expecting from it:

- Mac OS 8.5 or higher
- 266MHz or higher
- 32 or 64MB ram or higher
- 4GIG or higher
- 56k modem
- Any color

Thank you!

Shawn

PS: I understand this thread isn't on the right topic, but please forgive me :D

*coughcough-iMacs-cough-SUCK-coughcough* Anyway, you should get a real computer with at least a NICE 15" screen. But anyways...........I know your in WI, so are you or anyone you know connected w/ the university of wisconsin? I got Illustrator 9 for around $80 FULL LEGAL VERSION!! It is great, Flash 5 for $100 I think. Go to www.doit.wisc.edu and look @ prices.

Don't agree with dogma; but think you should seriously look at buying a new unit if it's in your budget and you can add a larger monitor to it if the 15" gets tiresome.

Check out http://www.lowendmac.com/imac/deals.html

Here are a some of the prices quoted:

May 11, 2001

Apple Store
400 MHz, factory refurbished, $749
350 MHz, factory refurbished, $649

Small Dog
350 MHz, store refurbished, $699

PowerMax
333 MHz, blueberry, used, $649
266 MHz, tangerine, used, $569
266 MHz, blueberry, used, $609

Whatever you get, try to get one of the optical mice from Apple (or another brand if you want more than one button). I just got a 450 MHz iMac (used for $750) with the new mouse and it's the best I've ever used, whereas the older 'puck' style mouse that came with previous iMacs is about the worst.

Good hunting.

I just don't like the small monitor and no expansion, but otherwise it is a cool computer. I agree w/ Doug-Optical mice rock!! @ my school we have G3s w/ the pucks and G4s w/ the opticals. I have a G4 and everyone tries to steal my wonderful mouse!! But get the computer if you like it our check out Dell!!

Ok dogma, you may state what you want, but i will never change my mind about purchasing an Apple computer - it works perfect what i need it for and i have the emulator for windows 98 if i need it.
Apple was the No. 1 selling computer last year, and i don't need to explain why; i think you should know.
Why did you mention the University of Wisconsin? This thread is for 'Cheap iMacs'. And, i am not looking for software - i dont need Illustrator 9, and i already have Flash; which i got for free :)
Thanks Scott, i won't agree with him, no never, now how :)
Thank you Doug for your help, and everyone else.
Yes i agree with you on the old mouse, yeh it can suck, but the new mouse from Apple look so tight!

Mac was the biggest seller because its pretty and new computer buyers like pretty stuff :)

That may be part of the reason.

Shawn Um. Doesn't apple have only like 3-4% of the total market?

According to Apple they have a 5% market share. That is why their new advertising campaign is 5% down 95% to go.

We'll have to wait and see if these Apple Stores can actually increase their market share. It should be interesting to see the end result.

lol ;) I want to help them by getting a G4 Titanium!! :) I would get it, except for that pesky little issue of 'disposible income' (read MONEY!!) :D
