Hi all,

I transferred a domain (silkrd.com) to Stargateinc.com on May 9 and made the nameserver change to point to Stargate's nameservers to use their free email account. The next day I setup an email account using the control panel. Everything went smoothly, until emails to that account - post@silkrd.com - started bouncing back to the senders. Even 4 days after the nameserver change, traceroute, and ping, to silkrd.com was unsuccessful. (tracert: unable to resolve target system name silkrd.com; ping: Bad IP address silkrd.com). In that same period other domains I had transferred to stargate and made changes to (not free email) were functioning perfectly.

Whois query (non-stargate databases) on silkrd.com shows the right nameservers. But tracert and ping do not work. Is this normal?

I have been unable to get a response from their support on this by email. Their online live support guy told me some problem in registering silkrd.com with their DNS servers and everything would be back to normal in 24 hours. That was more than 30 hours ago.

If anyone has used Stargate's free email account, or has with another registrar, could you please let me know if I am missing something here. Stargate's control also allows me to change/modify MX records. I am not completely clear on exactly what that does, but Stargate's FAQ makes no mention of modifying any MX record information to use their free email account. They just require you to use their nameservers and "activate" the email using the control panel, which seemed simple enough.

Any help would be appreciated immensly. Its going to be over a week soon and the problem persists. My client is furious. I recently moved my servers and everything else but this has gone smooth as silk.

Help!

I was able to tracert to the domain without error.

Yesterday, I created two e-mail accounts on two domains, i.e. one e-mail account per domain. The accounts are working for me. I can send & receive e-mails. Check your settings... you don't need to modify any MX records or DNS information.
