View Full Version : .org registry - is it working yet?

I'm trying to change nameservers for one of my .org domains (using eNom), but keep getting the following error: *****Errors modifying nameservers: Updating nameservers failed. Please try again.*****

Does anyone know what is the status of the .org registry? Their website says the transfer is finished and was successful... but obviously there is a problem somewhere.

Is anyone able to modify their .org domains?

Thanks.

Not sure i know a they are having some huge issues.
Often when doing a whois via internic or a general whois... it has been saying .org whois server unavailable. Aswell in the last week we had 2 new customers who had .org's and their domains after more then 48 hours are still not propragating.

YES, .org is still a mess after the move from NSI, I think all registrars are affected.

Not mention the monitoring services. I was getting 100+ notifications a day that .orgs were expired. Hope everything gets worked out soon.

We're getting hammered with domains that the client didn't renew in time, or at the last minute... Enoms nameservers reverted back to the default DNS ... now the clients are getting pi$$ed at US ... Their sites are down, we're helpless, and it leaves US refunding a month worth of hosting because they've been down so long.

This is insane - tried calling Enom a couple of times (after 30 minutes the first time, gave up, left a message- no return call) ... I'm on hold again for about 15 minutes.

No announcements from PIR, nothing on the Enom site about delays - what exactly should we tell customers? I think they should have left well enough alone.

We're experiencing the same here, Joe. We had a customer complain to PIR and they told him it's on our end.....great, now they're blaming the registrar's. Not a good start for them especially when they put out a news release of how smooth it went.

I know that we have had to have customer's re-submit their information (contact info, DNS etc.), not only once but twice.

Can you post the response you get from eNom once you get through? I've only had a few customers call about this.. nothing serious yet.

Thanks!

Well, Thursday, Enom told us 24-48 more hours, we're at last 48 hrs BEYOND that... I just hung up again, sent them another e-mail ... with a link to this thread.

Maybe they can take the opportunity to stop in and reply to everyone, but if I get word, I'll be sure to post here.

After submitting multiple times, did it work?

Yes, it should work and this is the advice we received from PIR.

Resubmitting does not work.

You're correct zippy, that is not working for us anymore either. We have to physically call PIR to have them make the changes.

Well, that might work for another registrar, but how do clients, or resellers of the service do it?? We've got SEVERAL - I tried calling PIR, they don't wanna talk to anyone who isn't an accredited registrar. :(

This is getting more and more frustrating.

And STILL no reply from Enom - and no annoucment/acknowledgement on their website of the problem.

if a domain showing in the whois info what does that means Status: CLIENT HOLD

willie140853

Hold: The domain will not be published in a zone for DNS resolution. Names without at least two nameservers may be placed on Hold status; in this case submit nameserver data through your registrar

That's tough to accomplish when we are unable to update any .org domains!

I need to transfer a .org domain name from Joker to my Enom account. Will I be able to do this. I have not received a response from either registrar, and I searched the PIR site, and could not find any information regarding domain name transfers. Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks!

Fortunately, I registered mine right before the changeover.
I just hope they get this worked out before it's time to renew all of my .orgs at the end of the year.

It's gotta take a while, I guess. After all, there are some 2.5 million .org's altogether. Lucky that I got my ville.org (bought and ownerhsip transferred on 23 January) updated just a couple of days BEFORE the changeover.
