I signed up for their $99.95 a month ded. server. I submitted my debit card info. Well I went to the bank that morning and deposited my payroll check. Well the damn thing bounced so that meant that the debit card wouldnt work for burst so I used a relatives checking account to pay them. This relative just deposits what she writes the checks for and nothing more. Well I put the $209.90 in and a few days later she calls me to tell me that she got a letter from her bank saying that a check for $209.90 bounced. Here she thought I put in just $200 and she wrote a check and that check and the account feee came out before burst cashed the check.

Well I emailed billing@burst.net and they said:

John ,
Your personal history file does not indicate that your check has been
returned.
It may have been resubmitted by our bank for payment.
Normally the returned checks are filed in the personal folders with a
charge for the return.
Again, the your inoviced account does not indicate a charge for a return
check.
If the check has been returned to our bank the second time , our billing
department has not received the returned check for filing.
At this time your account balance shows as 104.95..

We will inform you if the check does reach our department with the
appropiate fees.
Thankyou,
Credit Department

The other day I got the invoice for this month but I wasnt sure weither to send the $314.85 or if they was going to resubmit the first check.

Today I get on and my servers down and support says it was turned off via request of billing. WTH? They said they would contact me. I was also told it would be turned on tomorrow morning if I paid tonight. So I now lose money because they didnt contact me. I have the money its not like I was cheating them.

I am so tempted to just find a new place.

Hmm, weird situation your in here.

Normally, you would expect a notice period, or a warning before *any host* is to take down your servers for any reason what so ever, keep your options open.

John,

I checked with the billing dept, and your check was returned. It probably was not returned yet at the time you contacted them. The server was indeed shut down for non-payment. You need to call them to make alternate payment arrangements. They DID try to contact you, but the number thay have was disconnected. Everything to them pointed to a fraudulant order, which we see alot of...so that is why they were so strict with shutting the server off immediately. Bounced check, new un-proven client, disconnected phone number....

That phone was for internet use and I got DSL on the other line so I made it the number for my web host company then I changed my mind and wanted to use just the one number for DSL/Person/Business instead of paying the extra every month for 2 lines when one was hardly used. I should have gave you the other too. I just totally forgot what number I gave you.

People dont get me wrong I love the service I had a few questions and Nick was really helpful and fast to repy. I hope to stay with them after we get this all straightened out.

I was talking to sean, Burst is a great company, and whoever says he doesn't provide great support is a hypocrite :)

Lets see if I understand this:

1-guy does a whole bunch of stuff that may be honest mistake but looks suspicious

2- host kills site based on suspicious activity

3-user comes in, admits they made a mistake but titles post 'screwed by'

4- host comes in, clarifys situaton

5- user admits more mistakes

6- host gives em benifit of the doubt and turns box on again.

If this was -any- host other than Burst there would be a billion "hey see told ya they were good" but cause its Burst, its like its expected that a screw job is in the works.

Sean, the amount of heat you take is incredible, and yet you keep at it. :agree: to ya.

Yes I admit I should have picked a better topic but if I didnt have bad luck right now I wouldnt have any luck. Just the thought that I wanted to fix all this the other day and they told me to wait then to just turn it off had me seeing red :(

Sorry Sean and BurstNet

As of this post it isnt back up yet but they dont have to turn it back on so if he does that is great :)

if I were venomx, I would be very ashamed of myself and would ask an admin/moderator to delete this thread. Clearly this is not Burst's fault, but yours! A simple/easy apology is not enough... ask a moderator to throw your post, that's better.

cheers,

This post falls into the famous advertising theory:
"All advertising is good advertising"
ie...even bad comments get your name mentioned :-)

No need to throw out the post....it actually makes us look good I think, not bad.

No big deal John....we just deal with these situations as they come up...part of the job.

One for BurstNet!!!;) John you should learn a lesson from this. Everyone wants to get into business for themselves but doesn't take the time to make sure they understand what they're getting into. Always have alternative numbers on file. When you make a change make sure your provider knows about it. Most company will do what BurstNet did, and so would I. As a company, you can't let people take advantage of you. Hopefully you learned a lesson here as we all did. I hope you didn't cost much harm to your business.

Get the billing situation taken care of and thank Sean!! Be careful, this is a quick way to ruined your business. I don't think any harm got caused here. Your posting also got you fast response and so you both win. Good luck to you.
