I received this email today from cobaltrack.com:

---------------

Hi,

Thanks for being a loyal customer of Cobalt Racks. As of today, we have connected additional bandwidth with UUnet. This is the first of three additional pipes we are planning to add.

You should see a great improvement in the server speed!

At the same time, you might see an INCREASE in your TRAFFIC. In the past, you might have had customers who gave up on connection. Today, all of them WILL be connected QUICKLY and your traffic per month might go up.

Thanks again.

Looks like they finally got their act together here. Although my home connection still goes over there crappy cable and wireless link but my office one goes over there new UUnet link and I get pings on average 80 ms from London with no packet loss, definate improvement from 150-250 ms with up to 25% packet loss! I may consider staying now after my 6 months contract runs out.

Could people please post there location, ping and traceroute's to my site so I can get a broad idea of how many people will actually go through this new pipe.

Many thanks.

erm, i hope this means the "contracted out" UUNet, I mean UUNet is "fairly large" to be "bought" out by a company like Cobalt Rack, unless thay have a spare $400 Billion lying around we dont know about? lol

I got the exact same message from them over a year ago seems to me they are either very slow implementing this or they haven't changed a bit

And so do we.
Customers are talking about moving and they are really angry.
The biggest mistake we ever did was renting a server at Cobalt Racks:angry:
I'll never do it again.

The burstable speed is much better now too ...

ftp> get uumap.tar.Z
local: uumap.tar.Z remote: uumap.tar.Z
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for uumap.tar.Z (8520221 bytes).
226 Transfer complete.
8520221 bytes received in 36.4 secs (2.3e+02 Kbytes/sec)

Thats 1.9 Mbits/s
