It would have to have a program that restricts customers to ethier having a bidder account or a selling account-NOT BOTH- what i am looking for is site design and the program it self. First i would like to say that this is going to be a long email so hang on,

The first thing i would do is look over www.airnow.com to see what is all involved in this.

I am looking to build a site to compete with them and i am looking for design as well as scripts and databases. I am not the smartest when it comes to this stuff that is why i am having you design this, Only thing i can offer is what has to be there.

1. Let me give you some background on logistics and charter moves. When just in time companies(most all major manufactures are just in time) Lose parts or have a shortage that will shut their opps down they call a 3rd party logistic co to fly the material, what a 3rd party co does is take all the info; Where is the freight at now? where is the it going, what time it will be ready at the airport or supplier? do you want it door to door service, airport to door , door to airport or just airport to airport? Is the freight hazardous? can the freight be stacked on each other? can the freight be broken down if it is on a pallet(they call this loose load)? What are the dimensions of the freight ie...48wx48lx48h?How many pcs ie...1-pallet holding 25 cartons?what is the weight ether total weight or per piece?What is your protect time to consignee? This is basically the gist of it.

These are just some of the fields that will have to be entered when entering a shipment for bid.

also with the fields the pcs weight and dims when entered will provide to cube wgt.

when entering a bid a company will have to enter what kind of plane they are going to use, the total price to do the charter, in position time(time it will take to get the plane at the airport where the freight is), Live Leg(the time it will take to actually fly from point A to final destination point B, name of company(in this field when the mouse is put over the company name it will bring up a little window that say what that company's insurance coverage is ie $1,000,000 freight coverage, $500,000 liability, etc.) and a note field that the bidders can enter any notes that pertain ie... quote includes a/c tax and landing fees but will have to use two planes to take shipment.

I will have to have databases that hold this info.

Bidders can register for free but have to give me insurance docs and what ever i require to be registered, so i will be entering there info in the system not them. But once they are registered they will be able to come to the site and enter a user name and password and they will be taken to there account and be able to update certain info as well as see available shipments out for bid.

I need 1 page for shipment entry and 1 page for bidders to enter their quotes. 1 page where the poster can see all quotes for their shipment, which updates itself every 1 min-IMPORTANT-bidders must not be able to see what other people bid until after they entered their bid, once this happens they can enter a new lower bid if its possible(this drives down cost and that is why companies will want to use my service.) Bidders cannot be posters ever and posters can not be bidders, only one or the other(this ensures that companies cannot abuse the service.)

i will have to have an admin interface where i can enter and update info on customers and bidders.

Here is an example of the post page on airnow

fist boxes ask for airport codes ie DET-detroit city airport to CYQG-Windsor airport. it has about 5 spots so that if you want to go from point A to point B to Final dest-point C. ie...DET-CYQG-SUS

next fields are freight ready time in Zulu time has date and time boxes the ready time box has todays date and the current time in Zulu. Zulu time is international time it is 5 hours ahead of EST. next is protect time in Zulu hours.

next you have about 8 spots where you can enter pieces wgt and dims that automatically enters the cube feet when entered(needed)
the reason it has eight boxes is sometimes you might have 1 pallet at 200# 45x56x13 and also 1 pallet at 5000# 90x78x106(this makes a big difference in plane size)

then last is a note box where the poster can enter special notes about the shipment.

then there is a submit shipment box and remove shipment box if you submit it takes you to the same screen with all the info on it but at the bottom it has a spot where you can see the bids.

The bidders screen will have to have fields that can enter the info of the questions that i described earlier. once they submit the bid it will show up after the next 1 min update and it shows at the registered bidders account page under shipments bidding on and it also shows in the field where posters can see the quotes like i described earlier. The bidders once they enter the bid can see all bids for that shipment so that they can reevaluate their bids to be competitive if they want-again driving down cost so that customers continue to use service.

i know this is allot and i appreciate you still being here but this is necessary so that whoever takes on this project knows what they are getting into and are able to give a good est of cost.


The design i am looking for is a business site that is sort of the same format as airnow, coming from a user trust me i do not want to try and figure everything out on the site, So it has to be simple because you usually have no longer than 20 to 30 mins to get back to the customer with the quote. just no fancy tech designs and just make it look nice and professional.

i had many responses from companies interested in this project and sending this out to them also, so please be fair on price so that you have a shot at it. This would be a great example for your portfolio and reputation.

while i do understand that their will be cost that arise try to be as accurate as possible on the quote.

also my current hosting co only allows 2 sql databases so if this is a problem i can always change. but it does support most scripts like php perl etc
