Does anyone know why even after entering a limit for the number of email accounts for a particular site in the Web Hosting Manager that account can still create unlimited emails?

Is this a bug on the Cpanel? It looks as if I can't place a limit on the number of email accounts that a user can create.

I tried contacting my host and they do not know what is causing this. Any CPanel developers there that can give me a suggestion?

Help please?????

Have you tried contacting cpanel, and see if they can help.

Also, have you tried manually limiting a user and see if that works, there may be a bug in the system rather than cpanel. Check that out.

Hi Imran. I am not a Linux person. Could you tell me how to limit the users manually? In which file? would it be in the exim.conf file?

Thanks!

You can edit the account settings manually by editing the files in:

/var/cpanel/users/

Edit the file which corresponds with the username for a domain.

Just edit the entry for:

MAXPOP=

Actually I checked there and that file has the right entries. The POP entry shows 1 email for the demo and yet while testing I managed to create 10 pop accounts!

Any other ideas?

I have the same problem. I checked and the account setting files are set correctly yet I can create more POP accounts than is set.

I believe it's a bug in CPanel. I know a few other CPanel hosts have the same problem.

Can this be fixed in a future Cpanel update??

or are we SOL as usual...

Isn't this just a thing for the demo? The demo ignores the rules file, why does it matter how many they create for the demo? maybe to anwser my own question, it's because of people making more accounts than the one you made, i can just see bad language written all over these "new" accounts... :-P

Well to be honest with you I haven't even checked to see if it happens with every account. I will and let you know later.

Thanks!! :)

Nope! It does happen with any account. I just changed the limit with my own account down to 10 pops and I managed to create 12 and I could have kept going!

It happens with every account and I believe this is a known Cpanel bug. :(

Hmm. that's one really BIG bug. Don't quote me on this, but Sharp Web just *may* have a very nice control panel in the pipeline... <grins>

And you use WHM and CPanel and you don't have this bug with email? What version you use 3.4? Do you have it with Site5 or Ventures or ???

Bert i think your misunderstanding me, i haven't tried out the bug, i've got a dedicated machine through site5, but i have the standard cpanel. I was just saying that our company is in the works "talking stage" of developing a new control panel system.

I guess I misunderstood you. I just wanted to know if you are having the same issue with the pop accounts, that's all ;)
