Thanks for the info. tk talula 06-06-2000, 12:41 AM i signed up for the free trial.. thanx! too bad it isn't free forever (pinching pennies as you read this!) though. but the best things in life are never free... :( *trades in her car payments for DSL* no biggie, i dont drive much anyway  ------------------ what had mattered... matters little now we have shattered... apart somehow talula 06-06-2000, 11:57 AM i've heard people say on this board and others that there are programs that will help you monitor when your site goes down. are these free, if not or if so, could someone direct me to where i can find these programs? thanx :) ------------------ what had mattered... matters little now we have shattered... apart somehow Annette 06-06-2000, 01:21 PM Also consider Netwhistle ( http://www.netwhistle.com ), which will monitor, for free, up to five sites for you. It sends out email alerts when one of the sites on your list goes down and then again when it's back up. It will also send out a weekly summary report to you. Good tool. ------------------ Annette Hosting Matters, Inc. http://www.hostmatters.com Jason Ellis 06-06-2000, 05:47 PM www.webpartner.com (http://www.webpartner.com) has a free service. It is *not* perfect - you will occasionally get notices that a site is down when it actually isn't, and you will occasionally have the site go down and WebPartner doesn't actually notice (since it only checks every 15 minutes or so). It is, however, reasonably reliable, and it's worth the price you pay to use it ($0.00). Don't put you're entire server farm in WebPartner's hands, but if all you're looking for is something to tell you if your web site is down, and you keep in mind that you should always manually verify the errors it sends, then it does work fairly well.
