VH-Robert 01-28-2003, 02:28 PM Great services.
I have no doubt in my mind that these tutorials wouldn't decrease the support. Hopefully when we launch, we can order a few of your tutorials for our website.
Lemme ask you, does the "Powered By: Demo Demo" stay on?
Hi Robert:
Thanks for the nice comments. :)
The "Powered by DemoDemo" logo appears in the last frame of every tutorial. However, you will see a link under every product on the site giving you the option to have this removed. It is a $20 option and applies to the entire order, regardless of how many tutorials you order. Approximately 50% of DemoDemo customers choose this option.
I look forward to being of service to you for your March 1st launch date...

AH-Tina 01-28-2003, 02:55 PM I really like the demodemo tutorials that we purchased a few weeks back. I just purchased the Fantastico one - thanks! :D
BTW - Why does the XSkin tutorial have so few movies? I saw that GreySkin, for example, has alot more.

Hi Tina:
Thanks. I'm very pleased to hear you're happy with your tutorials. It makes my day. :)
Originally, all cPanel tutorials started off as a 10-tutorial set. But then I was getting emails from customers asking to expand them to cover more features in the control panel. So it was decided to bring them up to 20 tutorials. As a result, the last 2 new series added (advance and graysim) were produced as 20-tutorial sets.
In the next few weeks, all the other cPanel series will be brought up to 20 tutorials. At that point, all customers who purchased a 10-tutorial set will be offered special pricing to bring their tutorials up to 20.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. :)

AH-Tina 01-28-2003, 03:34 PM Thanks! I (and our customers) can't wait!!!

ScottD 01-28-2003, 03:40 PM Ohh, I look forward to the additional XSkin tutorials as well. I love these tutorials.

If I ordered a custom job, what happens in 3 months when I need to change info in it. Does it come with the raw files, or just the finished swf?
Your current list of tutorials is a bit limiting, it appears to be aimed at hosting-resellers, and not really the typical joe-bloggs end-user.
But hey, it looks really good. Ive seen something similar before, but they charged an arm and a leg, can't remember the URL.
AH-Tina 01-28-2003, 07:38 PM We are definitely not a hosting reseller. The DemoDemo tutorials are aimed at any hosting customer that uses Cpanel, etc. They are amazing and have DEFINITELY helped out our support staff...answered alot of questions that our customers had, before they had to post a helpdesk ticket.
Hi luxline:
While we have a good number of tutorials geared to resellers, the majority of DemoDemo tutorials are for the benefit of the end user single site owner. If you navigate through the site, you'll find tutorials that address the simple tasks of setting up POP accounts, autoresponders, webmail, Outlook Express, etc.
As Tina mentioned in her post (thanks, Tina :) ), they address common everyday issues where customers would otherwise have sent in a support ticket.
I will have to ask you to be more specific regarding your question about custom jobs. What is it that you would want changed in 3 months? If you prefer, feel free to email me directly if you would rather not discuss project details in the forum.
Vito
luxline 01-28-2003, 08:04 PM Custom job I have in mind is our own cpanel. Its nothing like cpanel, it doesnt do everything for everyone, but most end users can handle it, most resellers can handle it. Our programmers wrote it, its now on version number 6.
As its a set of programs, its constantly being updated, and new features added. Software as you know, if it stands still it dies. So, three months down the road, when we release version 6.1, how do I go about updating the tutorial. Am I going to be tied in to you, or can I get one of my lackies to do the mods.
As stated, its a custom job, and is only of use to us. Nobody else has our cpanel, we dont sell it, and its only for our resellers, and end users. read "custom job".
Thanks for pointing out the "end user" tutorials, I'll take another look. Wasnt too obvious with my speed reading

I think the best approach is to send me an email with a temp login so that I can login and get a feel for the size and scope of the project. Once I have a look around, I can at least give you a recommendation on the number of tutorials required to cover the control panel. Of course, in the end the number of tutorials is up to you.
Regarding future updates, if you add additional features to the cp, we could certainly produce add-on tutorials to cover those features. I would assume that it would not substantially change the complexion of the cp, so add-ons would be adequate. If, on the other hand, the cp is scheduled for future radical facelifts, I would suggest putting off any tutorials. I would wait until the basic look of the cp has stabilized.
When you receive product, you get an htm file and a swf file for each tutorial.

imago-allan 01-28-2003, 08:55 PM Vito,
You have a great set of tutorials! Congratulations!!!
We are planning to buy some of those later for our hosting site. Well, for the meantime we just content ourselves with screenshot tutorials for our clients.
I believe it is good deal everyone.
:)
theqase 01-28-2003, 10:02 PM Hey vito, whats up....
you say you are up for suggestions... well i have one... but its more of a comment?
you have a great idea, but arent people just basically paying for your tuts, to be personalized?
the reason i say this, is because i just went to your site, and clearly viewed one of your tuts, and it was in full...
so basically... what would stop a host or someone from saying... "i recommend checking out www.demodemo.com and looking at some of their tuts" or something like that
maybe i am rambling.. but... i just thought i would give my opinion...
AH-Tina 01-28-2003, 10:25 PM Like I would send my customers off my site for help???
Haing your own, customized version, of the DemoDemo tutorials is much more professional.

theqase, it would seem logical that a host would want to offer on-site support.
Besides, a fewhosts have tried hotlinking to my site and have been detected very quickly. I have some pretty good tracking mechanisms on the site. After all, it's not just a matter of denying me a sale. They are also using my bandwidth. Tsk, tsk. Bad move. As you can guess, it's not something I can allow... ;)
Vito
theqase 01-28-2003, 11:37 PM ahh... its just something i was thinkinng about... but i wouldnt do that, if i ever need a tut, i will be legit and give you the cash...
:)
I know. I never meant to imply you would do anything like that...
Vito
AH-Tina 01-28-2003, 11:40 PM You know, I just noticed you have FrontPage tutorials too. :) I think I'm going to end up paying for a new car for you...by the time we're done!
Seriously, keep up the great work!

I would like to start a new thread, but I can't because of the 5 day rule. So I hope by posting this request here I am able to get the message out the the right people.
I am looking for an experienced Flash designer. I am not looking for any actual work to be done. I would simply like to pay for your time in a telephone session. I am approximating about 2 hours in total. That may be broken up into 2 or 3 sessions. I will pay you a total of $100.00 for your time (via Paypal).
I prefer that you are located in US or Canada, as I will then be able to provide you with my toll free number for our phone session(s).
Basically, I need someone who has a very good grasp of Action Scripting, importing, exporting, and an overall understanding of how to use Flash. Essentially, I need to pick your brain on a few innovative product ideas. I could research/experiment on my own, but frankly do not wish to invest the time. I'd rather pay you for your knowledge and be done.
Flash experts may not necessarily see this post given the topic of this thread. So if you are reading this and happen to know of a North America based Flash expert who is sharp, reliable and trustworthy, please either PM me with a name, or let the person know to call/email/PM me.
Please note: I will need you to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement before we speak on the phone. So you will need to have access to a fax machine.
Thanks for your help.
Vito
