Some readers of this forum may find these articles interesting. I'm not sure if you have to register on the Kansas City Business Journal site to read these, but the links work right now. If you do have to register, it's free and no harm done, I think.

Good reading. No comment, though.

Price: communitech is over priced and participate in questionable accounting practices and over billing.

Product: Communitech claims business class webhosting, but server up time is not great. Emails are limited to 100 per hour so if you have an office with 10 people you can't send more than 10 emails. Email responders don't work correctly. Backups policy and procedures are haphazard and not available for email.

Support: Communitech's staff has very little knowledge of the product, inability for the team to resolve issues and no escalation or resolution to know bugs with their product.

By reading that article, I wouldn't say it's Communitech that is bad. More like it's Interland...

I feel bad for the customers and the employees and former owners in this fiasco. Those were some disappointing stories to read. Good links sigma.

I've been with Communitech since 1999 and was always VERY HAPPY with them. I was disturbed when Interland bought Communitech, but thought I'd stick with it and see what happened. I heard of the move of the servers to Atlanta via the Communitech forums, through customers, not Interland directly. I called Communitech to get information and was sent a form letter via email of the move. No assurance was given as to the features and prices we have and that nothing will change through the end of our contract period at least. They use the words "foreseeable future," but there is little comfort in that phrase. I had prepaid and have over a year left on my time with Communitech/Interland, however I'm looking for another host right now as I'm concerned about changes when the move is made. Judging by the forums at Communitech, many clients are looking elsewhere as well. It is very disappointing though, as I had been very pleased with Communitech, when they were "Communitech."

The same thing happened to VServers/HostPro with the buyout of Interland. Can't say that many customers of VServers were happy in the long run.

I'd express caution to those who are with communitech. Support will undoubtedly change with a new support center. Who knows what will happen with the plans, I know that for the most part all the VServer plans remained the same but became 'legacy' so you couldn't add anything.

We have a number of clients at Spry that were with VServers and they were quite happy to be free from Interland.

Good luck to all those with Communitech as it may prove to be a rough next few months.
