The subject pretty much says it all. For web hosts who have them, or for folks who promote them - do affiliate or reseller programs work for you?
What makes one work, or makes one suck?
Thanks in advance,

well..... full-featured hosting plans w/ affordable prices, excellent service (99.9% uptime, fast connections), and responsive tech support seem to the the basic ingredients in a good host. Reselling does work if you put enough effort into it and advertise wisely. Many hosting companies who own their own servers/data center these days started out as resellers themselves.
I`d put more effort into reselling, not affiliate programs if i were you.
Now, do i really need to explain what makes a host "suck"? :D

If you choose to become a reseller it is important that you find a provider with extremely good support. Even though the support is good enough (under 24hours) if you bought a regular account it is not good enough for a reseller account, find somone who can response whithin 3 hours at the most active hours of the day.
I`m a reseller and I think it works. I`ve encountered problems and had to change provider and stuff and things aren`t as good as it may seem, experience is very important to have in this business and I`m glad I learned it by being a reseller instead of sitting by my own with a dedicated. The only thing that bothers me is that it takes a lot of time to get customers, so choose a company that offers a profit right away and not quantity discounts. It`s quite hard to get potential customers also, you`ve got to advertise and you may end up paying $1 for each visitor. WHT members don`t bite on resellers, that`s for sure ;)
I realized I missunderstood your post bteeter, guess you can get something from my post anyway....
