Walter 05-13-2001, 03:09 PM Go to the header of this page, press <Search> and enter "unlimited".
You will find many postings about this topc. To be short: there is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth or unlimited space.
:D
marksy 05-13-2001, 03:10 PM What they released unlimited space harddrives and bandwidth?? Where have I been!
Crappy OC-48's with the limited bandwidth and monthly fees.
JBIZ718 05-13-2001, 05:13 PM Those specs you listed are a joke.
You want to pay $20 for unlimited use of everything.
Heres my recommedation.
Get a Dell 1550
Colocate it
And see if it comes to $20 per month, and also if they can give you unlimited bandwith, and if someone has made a unlimited harddrive.

Walter 05-13-2001, 05:23 PM Everyone says there is no unlimited thing - but, hey, I think I have at last found one! The only thing which seams to be unlimited here on earth is.... guess what.... stupidity!
(Don't want to be rude of course. And 'Just' isn't meant. More a general complaint.)
The cheaters and the cheated... they dance to the same music.
Synergy 05-13-2001, 08:57 PM The only unlimited resource I found on earth is polluted oxygen!
allending 05-13-2001, 09:53 PM You forgot about Spam
Those are perfectly fine spesifications for what I do (my sites never exceed 2gb/month anyways) and I did find what I was looking for by posting this forum so to all you who spend thier whole live browsing sites like these all day to power trip a little critisizing for the h-ell; of it, Try Getting A Life.
Addressed to those who helped me: thank you I appricate it and I found what I needed.
oh and when I say Unlimtied. Im not Stupid as the guy stated above, I know there's no such thing, but you can get pretty close, I only stated it to attract Fasthosts Resellers so that I could make some customized deal with one (as I did). Ulimited Space - bah! - I only dont want to worry about going above a 3gb limit (photographers sites- they add images all the time!) Okay I have been into web development for a while and have been into hosting for a while to and keep us just the same as you all do, just you all need to have more respect for someone who is just looking to find help, instead of be as rude as a couple above. So next time when you want to tell someone they're being stupid or something, think about what they know, so that you dont make an ass-hol-e out of yourself.
edude 05-14-2001, 12:35 PM Yes i think just is right, no need to bash anyone, all you can say is their is no such thing as unlimited, you don't have to call anyone stupid :(
Walter 05-14-2001, 01:01 PM Just and Hostexp, I did a search on this thread to find the word "stupid", and as the only posting with this word in was mine, please let me reply. I wrote The only thing which seams to be unlimited here on earth is.... guess what.... stupidity!
(Don't want to be rude of course. And 'Just' isn't meant. More a general complaint.)
I clearly stated that Just isn't meant, what else should I do? Yes, there are beginners out there, and yes, everyone of us once was a beginner, so why should I call a person stupid because he doesn't know something???? :homer: I think the only reason to call someone stupid is when a person does the same error over and over again.
AbuHasan 05-15-2001, 09:38 PM But do you know that webhosting providers have unlimited bandwidth? (Theyar badnwith is not limited by Gb/month, but by Gbit/second)
Hostking 05-15-2001, 11:47 PM I will offer anyone unlimited bandwidth with a dedicated server. Do not read the contract that says you have to pay by the GB for it.
Best Regards,
Félix C.Courtemanche 05-16-2001, 05:09 AM I am not totally sure that asking for unlimited something will only bring the best.
Unfortunately, and I am speaking with experience, web hosts that offers 'unlimited' something or wish to comply with giving Unlimited something without any further explaination are doing so to fool their customers.
Often their TOS will indicate a limit, or they will indicate some other measure 'based on the average use' (read you are kicked if your site is succesfull).
Bandwith can effectively be near unlimited (we do not limit it, and we can offer over 100 mbps...), however it is the TRANSFER that is monitored (e.g 5 gb / month).
If you need 2gb per month, you will get better, cheaper results than asking for unlimited.
Trust me.
cahostnet 05-16-2001, 07:37 AM I should take a poll. How many people here have ever worked in a NOC. I'm not talking about a small NOC, but a BIG NOC like Exodus etc. Let me repeat, There's no UNLIMITED in ANYTHING. This is what we see the word unlimited. It means you have unlimited use of... but it comes with a price. When an ISP uses that word, they generally mean they have plenty of bandwidth to sell you not that you can use it for free. Bandwidth is allocated in a NOC for customers. Managing bandwidth is not an easy task as you can bring your entire network down to its knees if not planned well. How many routers and Cisco gear do you think it will take to house unlimited bandwidth to everyone out here? ISP have resources to get gigs of bandwidth to their facility so that you can have the opportunity to buy more if you need it and when you need it. It's unlimited use of that bandwith at your need but at a price. The next time someone calls their phone company to get a T3 installed at their house or work please let me know how cheap it is. After that if you want to offer me unlimited use of your bandwidth for free or for couple of dollars let me know, I'll close shop and eat off of you.
Just a little insider note.
Islandhost 05-18-2001, 07:33 PM WE can do the reseller program we need to work on the numbers you want though but our servers are pretty fast some give me a buzz when you

cyberseven 06-02-2001, 08:22 PM That's okay I found what I was looking for and so far so good, we'll see how it works out!:o
avara 06-03-2001, 09:25 PM Anybody read the webhosting.com TOS? First they plaster "99.9% uptime guaranteed" all over their bloody web site, and in their TOS they then say that "99.9% is not a service level guarantee."
