I design webpages for companies where I live. I was wondering if it would make sense to get a dedicated server so that I could host the sites I make for them. I don't really have tons of server knowledge, so I can't really do reselling and deal w/ service. I need a server w/ CPanel and someway to assign companies domain space, etc. If anyone has any help (resources, sellers, anything!!) or thinks I should/n't do this, please post!! :)

If you do not have some server knowledge or a willing to learn it reselling would be far easier as you don't have to worry about the server. It's also cheaper if you have not a large number of sites or some big ones..

It honestly doesn't sound like you're ready for a dedicated server. I've got information on my site that will give you an idea of what it takes to be ready. If you don't have the knowledge to deal with reselling and service, what make you think a dedicated server would be any easier? The reverse is true.
An alternative to the typical reselling is getting a virtual server account. This is still shared server hosting and differs from reselling in several ways. You have an alloted amount of space you can use to host other domains and where you control some of the server functions related to those accounts. It allows you to manage the accounts for your customers without being obligated or in charge of server maintenance and operation.
An added benefit is that a virtual server account can be good preparation for getting your own server, should you add to your level of knowledge and the need arise.

A good choice would be a Private Server, via the ensim control panel.
It will give you many options, and actually act as a dedicated machine.
