Doing a trace of their IPs, their machines are located at http://www.tecnicous.com/ NOC. kickster 05-13-2001, 11:58 AM oh so they are using some one elses services!!! That may be a problem (reliablity) WebSiteBuildIt 05-13-2001, 12:20 PM Kickster, I think most of us here are using someone elses services. I have a server hosted at DialTone and also have a domain hosted at surefire commerces data center. Both have had superb reliability. Yes, nearly all of us are at the mercy of someone elses data center! ;) kickster 05-13-2001, 12:33 PM cabalstudios seems to be located in UK the servers are in USA if something goes wrong (it always does) then who would be in charge of fixing it? for example burst has their own data center so does 4webspace.com Walter 05-13-2001, 02:03 PM Most hosts don't have their own datacenter but are colocated at a bigger NOC, that's ok. If your site is down the host is in charge of fixing it as you have a contract with the host and not with the NOC. dasource 05-16-2001, 05:49 AM As far as I am aware Cabal Studios is a subsidary of SiteGenie LLC who are the owners of Tecnico NOC, which is a private NOC. I have a server with them and they provide excellent customer care and support and the speed is great. Also, before I took up and signed any agreement I was made aware that Cabal Studios is a subsidary of SiteGenie LLC. Some hosts, want to hide this were as Cabal Studios were proud to be a subsidary of SiteGenie LLC. ;) cabalstudios 05-16-2001, 12:18 PM I was hoping someone would sooner than later ask the question that kickster has. Here is some information on our company. Cabal Studios, is a subsidary of SiteGenie LLC who are/own Tecnico NOC, based in Dearborn. Some people may question our support etc. Cabal Studios and SiteGenie LLC are both a joint venture and WILL both be supplying customers with support Internationally 24/7. CabalStudios originally contacted SiteGenie wanting to host our servers in there noc, but we came to an agreement that CabalStudios and SiteGenie LLC would do a joint venture, were we would both supply 24/7 support Internationally. As CabalStudios is based in the UK, we can supply full on support for all European countries without any issues as to opening hours, were as SiteGenie LLC will provide full support for all american/canadian customers, as the time frame difference from the uk and us can be over 7 hours. So, it would make sense rather than having CabalStudios servers based in the US, and only being able to supply support during UK times, when we are unavailable SiteGenie LLC will be available and vice versa. If, for some instance your server was to be unavailable, or there are some configuration issues, both CabalStudios and SiteGenie LLC, would get involved to resolve your issues. Between ourselves we have dedicated callout numbers based at the NOC, and at the SiteGenie LLC base, were we can contact any support engineer at any time. If you have any other questions on our service please contact me imran@cabalstudios.com cabalstudios 05-16-2001, 01:37 PM Here are more details. On IP block ownership. ;) http://samspade.org/t/lookat.cgi?address=cabalstudios.com&ipblock=on&clueless=no freakysid 05-19-2001, 03:02 PM The status bar messages are nice, but ... Why don't I go anywhere when I click on the hyperlinks on the cabalstudios.com home page? Is this just a problem with my browser (IE5 on Mac) or is the site incomplete? JayC 05-19-2001, 07:37 PM Originally posted by freakysid Why don't I go anywhere when I click on the hyperlinks on the cabalstudios.com home page? Is this just a problem with my browser (IE5 on Mac) or is the site incomplete? It actually is stated on that page that the site is "offline" until June 1. Which is a little inconvient for those of us checking it out, a little more for any potential clients wanting to sign up, but has to be a little disturbing for any current customers clicking on that "Customer Care" link! freakysid 05-19-2001, 07:49 PM Thanks - yes I noticed *after* I had posted :emlaugh: It seems like June will be in interesting time to be in the market for a dedicated server, just from reading about suposed new deals in the pipeline; eg, Version12. cabalstudios 05-20-2001, 02:25 AM Please be patient our, site is under re-development as we moved from a NT platform to a Unix platform. Our current developers are re-coding the website so it fits into MySQL as a database backed rather than, Access, which we used previously. If you require a service or quote please contact imran@cabalstudios.com ;) cabalstudios 05-20-2001, 07:26 AM Which is a little inconvient for those of us checking it out, a little more for any potential clients wanting to sign up, but has to be a little disturbing for any current customers clicking on that "Customer Care" link! Just for reference, only the links on the Main Page are inactive, for *new* customers/viewers. All present customers have direct links to webpages that will get them the info they require. We are, working on getting the site fully functional by the 1st June 2001. ;) |
