View Full Version : Smart Hosting Tools Controller
everyone 05-13-2001, 01:45 AM Hey! I was wanted to know if anyone knew about the Smart Hosting Tools Controller reseller panel and when it is coming out? Do you know what features it has? The demo on their website does not work. Has anyone used the control panel? How is it? Is it easy to install? Have you had any problems? Thanks so much!
cahostnet 05-16-2001, 09:53 AM I've been checking out the demo for couple of weeks now. I really like it although it's missing some functionality that I want. We'll see what happens. I'm will probably be getting it. There aren't much CP that run on FreeBSD. I've only seen a few and I don't want to go to Red Hat if I don't have to.
everyone 05-16-2001, 06:08 PM What other functions need to be added to it?
cahostnet 05-16-2001, 07:21 PM Nothing too much just some basic functionality like, protected directories, ability to specify the amount of mySQL DB for a user, SSI, SSH/Telnet access (enable/Disable), the ability to specify the amount for sub-domains, help section for both admin/users, ability to create virtual nameservers through the panel of give users the ability to do and then charge them. Like I said nothing to hard but it's just time. Support for phpMyAdmin will also be nice.
There are some very nice features also that I like. Over all I like what I see and is planning on purchasing it when my server is ready. They will be golden once they add paysystems gateway which I hear from paysystems that their API are being rolled out as we speak. I will also like to see it built in php and I'm not sure if it has a DB backend. I haven't gotten that answer back yet.
In short, I think they will have all of this iron out in due time. Patience will pay off. I just hope support for it is as impresive as the panel itself. If you're thinking about trying it I think you should. It also works in FreeBSD which I love!
davidb 06-17-2001, 01:32 PM I have this. He is adding those features which I too want. Except for the protecting directories I do not know about that one. He is trying to make it avail for other os's, but if you want it to work right now you really need a fresh(and I mean fresh) install of RH6.1 or 6.2. If you have that it installs in about 5 min installing qmail, proftp, apache, tomcat, and the user and admin interfaces. I admit it has some other bugs which he is working out. But I belive that this is a very good product. It is also poorly documented so you must find out some things on your own. But for the most part if you get it and a authorize.net reseller account, you can be taking orders and within 5 min have them setup with out you even doing anything.
everyone 06-17-2001, 03:36 PM They are still working on my server, but maby you can help me... How do you set an account to automaticly be setup? What is the path I submit it? Thanks
davidb 06-17-2001, 06:38 PM /var/dsm/pub-cgi. It is one of those, just look at it and you will know, it wont have the side bar. Also to access it, I acually dont have a domain set to my server yet, but use any ip address that apache is listening on
http://216.36.96.152/order/
order is a referance to /var/dsm/pub-cgi, so you will get a forbidden. So just type in the name of one of the files in that dir.
What are they still working on in yours?
Also PHPadmin integration is on the edge of being finished from the look of the members status page.
everyone 06-17-2001, 09:41 PM Thank you so much for that! I am still waiting for the problem to be resolved with my websites
everyone 06-17-2001, 11:08 PM Oh...all of my control panel info is gone. There is nothing there. I do not know what happened. It should be resolved soon
davidb 06-18-2001, 12:12 AM I want to know what you do about out going mail. I guess the only real option is to have them use sqwebmail for it. Cause he does not use any authentication for it, and because it comes preinstalled, im afraid to patch then reinstall it. Do you just skip the rcpthosts file all togeather?
Boksoft 06-18-2001, 05:07 AM David,
We will be coming out with an SMTP feature tomorrow.
davidb 06-18-2001, 06:36 AM Hey, thanks, that would be really cool.
everyone 06-18-2001, 10:49 AM This product is going to be great! Do you think that price will be raised?
Boksoft 06-18-2001, 10:51 AM I cannot disclose information about that, but most likely it's not going to change soon.
everyone 06-18-2001, 07:14 PM When I do auto sign-up using ot.html or order.html, it says request queued, but in the admin panel, it says todo...how do I make it get added automaticly...I do have the billing setup and my Authorize.net account in Test Mode. What am I doing wrong?
davidb 06-22-2001, 08:37 AM Hi, boksoft, did that smtp option get finished?
DHWWnet 06-23-2001, 05:08 AM where can i download a demo ?
