Hey I need a host who can support Macromedia Generator 2.0. I have seen good reviews about weinbar.com, hostrocket.com, etc...but none of them offer generator 2 support. I do suggest all the host to start supporting it as it will give you competitive edge (i have only seen very few hosts supporting it)
So if you support it plz reply to me, i am sure lot of users also would like it!!!!

Generator is a nice tool, to be sure. However, the Enterprise version of this requires server-side processing rather than client-side processing, as is the case with regular flash components. This is the reason most hosts do not support it in a shared hosting environment. Of course, the license cost is pretty steep for what would likely be relatively few users, as well.

That's one thing that makes no sense...they charge hosting providers out the a** for server licenses, regardless of how many users, making it difficult for developers using new technology to get hosting for them until there is enough demand to justify hosts paying the licensing fees, and making the cost of a custom dedicated server prohibitive, unless the provider is willing to eat the cost to make the sale.
I priced out a custom dedicated server for a prospect a while back, just after Oracle changed their pricing model to base it on the processor speed, multiplied by number and type, and factor in the phase of the moon - it was darned close to six figures  for all the licenses and the machine as he wanted a very high-powered machine (they charge extra for RISC processors, and Sun servers don't come cheap)-and he only wanted it for six months, they were in the process of moving their operation offshore.
RealAudio/Video is another one that gouges hosts, anyone can get an individual site license for free, but server licenses cost thousands.

Oh, yeah - Real is another one that really makes it difficult to see the return on the license investment, server-wide. It's funny that they changed their licensing a bit earlier this year, just like Miva. Used to be that MivaScript (AKA HTMLScript) was their freebie version to enable support for those hardy souls who wanted to use scripting. Imagine my surprise when I saw that their new licensing structure was pretty much the same in cost as Miva Merchant. Oracle - we won't even discuss them. I've dealt with their arcane licensing structure in the corporate environment. What a nightmare.
