Thanks! (SH)Saeed 05-13-2001, 01:00 AM Their service is very good and fast, but if you need a lot of support and technical help... Well, lets just say that they need to work on that part a little. Last thing I heard was that they were getting more tech staff. If they do, then they truly are one of the good ones. ckevin 05-13-2001, 04:54 AM Thanks zolbian, are there any other comments about them? Also, I don't know whether my server is Mid Tower or Full Tower, can anyone state the exact sizes here? Their charge difference is so large --- $50/month! I just know mine one is ATX Tower, so I don't know about this... Synergy 05-13-2001, 08:31 AM Full towers range about 2-3 feet tall. Thats all I can tell you :) If your ATX tower is about the size of a average computer in retail stores, you have a mid tower. ckevin 05-13-2001, 09:17 AM oh, thanks Synergy! :) Anyother use weinbar.com colo service and what's your comment? (SH)Saeed 05-13-2001, 09:53 AM ckevin, If you search this board for WeinBar you will find tons of information about them. About the tower, usually Midi Towers have 2-3 CD-rom slots and Big Towers 4-6 CD-rom slots. But I'm guessing since you don't know which one you have, you have a Midi Tower, cause you would know if you had a Big Tower, hehe :D ckevin 05-13-2001, 10:26 AM thanks again, zolbian, haha yeah i believe i have a mid. tower lol :D XTStrike 05-14-2001, 06:21 AM ckevin, I have dedicated with them, and as you may have read on this msg board, i have varied views but since the setup problems (which may i add were more than compensated for) i have had no other problems since. The only thing I can say is to make sure you check your server has the latest revisions of everything they install on, i have a few friends that looked at the server and noticed old versions of software had been installed, even after a request for the latest versions of EVERYTHING, one example is as follows: Apache/1.3.12 was installed after a request to install Apache/1.3.19 there were other things that needed upgrading but it is pointless me going over them here. BUT setup issues are all I have with Weinbar and since they are gettign new techs then this problem looks to be history, other than that everything is great! ckevin 05-14-2001, 06:59 AM actually i have sent them a mail regarding the colo- sales inquiries 2 days before, but they never reply me yet, I wonder they really haven't enough ppl to answer any inquiries (both sales and technical support) ckevin 05-14-2001, 10:08 PM finally i got their reply but can anyone here know where should i send the server to and their attn.? I send this inquires but never have a reply yet :( RackMy.com 05-14-2001, 10:36 PM In my experience, Mid towers are about 16-18 inches tall. Hope that helps, matra 05-14-2001, 11:14 PM I too have been mailing weinbar sales, requesting for info and am still waiting for responses. This is the same with emails sent to sales departments of some other hosting companies as well. Though the setup fees look a little steep, it is compensated to some extent by free IPs, no recurring fees for many upgrades.... I dont know whether they too are reducing the fees for cpanel/WHM but many others have done so. One more thing is that the hard disk options offered by weinbar seem to be only IDE. This is the case with some other providers too. I dont know whether this is something to worry about. I looked through the tech pages here and while I learn about the typical performance differences between IDE & SCSI, am still not clear about specific h/d especially the new higher capacity IDE ones. We are using SCSI now and are hosting MySQL databases. Can someone enlighten  Cheers Matra energy 05-14-2001, 11:51 PM Pogo Linux has a good text on SCSI vs. IDE RAID. http://www.pogolinux.com/Why_IDE_RAID.html |
