View Full Version : Who's watching ALIAS after the Super Bowl?

Who's watching Alias after the Super Bowl tonight?

Alias is actually rather more technical than most tv shows ... they talk about IP addresses, downloading from a web site, servers, swapping, etc. Only a couple episodes ago, they had their tech guy do a mission for them, and he actually was correctly using traceroutes and pinging with windows command.

Of course, the show does have the bogus stuff, like those tools the secret agents use during missions. Some looks realistic (and probably could be created with a lot of money), although some don't. Although, the majority of tools they use actually do look like they COULD be realistic. So, there you go.

I love this program ... can't get enough of it. How many of you will be watching Alias to try it out ... or how many of you actually watch it every week?

And, yes, it is tough to get into after not watching it before (becasue of all the complicated storylines previously that you didn't watch), but once you watch two shows, you'll be hooked. You'll understand all the characters and storylines once you've watched three or four shows -- so be patient. It is well worth the patience.

By the way, I think Marshall (tech guy) is absolutely hilarious. I love it how he goes off on a tangent during a discussion, it's hilarious!

Yep, already saw it. She looked good in it, although she barely had a few minutes of showing.

No... Wrong show... There is so much happening in Alias tonight, its freaking unbelievable! It seems like this is the last episode, but its not, which makes it really weird.

LOL. Am I the only one on this board that watches Alias? Anyway, this episode was the MOTHER of ALL episodes!! It did a complete 360 about everything we know and have learned! If anyone watches it and wants to talk, feel to talk to me, I have so much excitement and I just need to get it all out!

Amazing, amazing, amazing episode!!

I watched tonights, but never before. I liked it. The only thing I dont get is the black woman who killed the black woman. Um, they make clones or what? Twin? I dont get that part.

Wow, this was absolutely a GREAT episode! WOWWWWW!!!! I don't usually get this excited about anything -- this was definitely a great episode! (Spoilers Ahead...) All of the Alliance is shut down by the CIA. Jack almost got fried, but thankfully was saved by Sydney. I wonder what Dickson, who was Sydney's partner with SD6 will say later on about now knowing he wasn't really working for the true CIA. This is just truly amazing -- the story unwraps like this. Yikes.

Oh, you and me brother! :D

I'm surprised not more of the forum members here watch Alias, because it has lots of techie-type stuff included in each episode and has to do a great deal with web hosting. Just in tonight's episode, they referred several times to web servers.... server 47, etc.

Even us seasonal watchers don't quite understand what happened in that scene. I can either guess it is a clone or they somehow hired someone that looks like her ... or something to that effect. Stay tuned for next week's episode!

Because Sloan referred to a Phase Two, I am guessing he is either going out for revenge for what they were trying to do with his wife, he is a CIA operative that the CIA somehow does not know about (???), or he had planned this long ago. Or possibly, he wants to create his own network of bad guys, and wipe out the Alliance so he can create his own.

I wathced for the first time but I didn't have a clue what was going on or who was who! Guess I'm late to jump on the bandwagon!

Benjamin, did you notice how Francie had an accent when Sloan called her? It almost sounded Russian, didn't it? Or am I just imagining this? I can only think of two things: either the dead body shown was really Francie, or something was done to make the body look like Francie. This is really mind-boggling, and I think I may visit some Alias websites to find out what the think happened....

I don't know what Dickson will do now, hopefully he will work with the CIA and all differences between him and Sydney and Jack will be resolved.

Wow, I just realized this. If Francie is still alive, then she has known all this time that Sydney and Jack are double-agents. I wonder if Will also does not appear to be who he really is.

Excellent episode, excellent show! I hope it goes on for atleast another year! I don't want the series to be cancelled before we can figure out what is really happening. That's already happened to be once before with Dark Angel, and I really hope it doesn't happen again!

Yeah, it is confusing until you've watched a few shows. That's the disadvantage of archs and continual storylines, but there are many advantages with this type of show over a show that just hits the reset button each week. When I first was watching Alias, I made sure to read some informative descriptions from the abc.com website and some other Alias fan sites, to get a feel for the characters and what the episodes involve.

I think I noticed an accent, but I am not quite sure what is happening in that scene. I first was thinking the person laying against the wall, shot in the head, was a waitress that we didn't know about. Then I got the idea, perhaps that is the same person on the phone as sitting against the wall (Francie). Not sure if the Francie we know is the one on the phone or the one laying there (looking as if she is) dead.

If this is a case of cloning or just hiring someone that looks like Francie, I don't think it is quite as interesting as if they had actually had Francie as an operative for all this time. Or perhaps this is still the case? We'll have to wait until next week's episode called "Double Agent," then "Free Agent."

I don't know what Dickson will do now, hopefully he will work with the CIA and all differences between him and Sydney and Jack will be resolved.

That's what I'm thinking -- he'll end up working with the CIA. Or he might rebel or something and join bad guys against the CIA. (I'm stretching, but the writers do it all the time!) Or perhaps he is somehow connected to this somehow differently and knows more about the situation than we (the audience and the CIA) think?

Wow, I just realized this. If Francie is still alive, then she has known all this time that Sydney and Jack are double-agents. I wonder if Will also does not appear to be who he really is.

Hmm... that's interesting. Will being a bit more involved than we first thought.

Yes, definitely an excellent episode! I'm just hoping we won't see at the beginning of the next episode that Sydney wakes up in her bed startled from this dream. Or wakes up from someone messing with her brain. Perhaps what we saw in the episode was not actually happening to the Alliance?

No, I bet this really hapened. ABC and the producers of Alias don't strike me as wanting to make something up. This Francie thing is still confusing me so much. I'm almost positive I heard her speak in an accent.

Also, did you know how Sydneys mom was no where to be shown in this episode? Don't you find that to be a bit odd, that they don't show her, and they end the show with Francie(?) speaking in somewhat of a Russian accent?

Will could very well be working for Sloan, atleast it would make a little sense since he was just hired to work at the CIA as an analyst.

I doubt the dead lady was a clone of Francie, just doesn't seem right since there have been no other references of the Alliance or SD-6 of being able to clone let alone do DNA work.

I'll go visit some Alias websites now and see what others think, I'll be back with my findings!

Ok,
I did some reading and there are two theories floating around:

1.) Sloan and Sark somehow were able to make a clone of Francie, and they plan to use the new (clone/evil) Francie to collect intelligence from Sydney, Jack and Will. To me this theory just seems odd, if it was a clone then why on EARTH would she talk to Sloan in an accent?

2.) Something I completely forgot about - Francie has a twin sister, Anna! Apparently she was shown in a past episode, and come to think of it I remember it now. They look identical, and their measurements are almost identical aswell, barely noticable to tell the two apart. So, the theory others have come up with is that Anna will collect intelligence from Sydney and the rest, and report it back to Sloan. This theory sounds a little better than the rest, but it still doesn't explain the accent (that is if there ever was one).

Those who support these theories use the reference of when Will asked Francie how her restaruant was making a profit after only 6 months, they say that perhaps Sloan is financially helping her restaruant, or there is more happening than there appears.

Personally, I'm still confused. Benjamin, what are your thoughts?

Francie is dead....her replacement (plastic sugery does wonders when the look is close) will feed information to Sloan in his quest to disrupt the CIA and set up his new network of evil. Dickson will credit Sydney with destoying his marriage, and turn to working against her and for Sloan, who has been cultivating him for this.

It all came to me in the sequel that played on the screen of my mind after I fell asleep.... IOW, I dreamt it.

Benjamin

Hmm, I'm not sure what to think now.

I didn't join on the bandwagen right at the start of the show, so I must've not seen the episode with a twin sister.

Not sure if DrChaos is just guessing or what he posted is actually correct. He sounds kind of like a writer to me. :)

The Best episode by far!! - never have I seen a show that had so many twists and turns, double crosses etc. Wow I can't wait till next week :) That is the only show I never miss. So, what is your theory?? I bet this is still all about Irina Derevko (syd's mom). Now with Syd back in the CIA and evil Francie??? its possible that her mom is still in cohoots with Sark, who is using Sloan to get what Irnia wants and evil Francie is used to infiltrate the CIA??? Geez one hell of show and story line. :D

flitcher
01-27-2003, 09:24 PM
Very good observation, but was Irina ever working for Sark? I thought she was working for someone else?

Hostkookster
01-28-2003, 12:34 AM
No, Sark was working for Irina (The Man) at K-Directorate. Sark came to Sloan after Irina turned herself into the CIA....Coincidence?? I think not. :D

I don't know, I just find it so hard to believe that she would betray her daughter, atleast betray her now. Her feelings and expressions when she talks to Sydney seem so geniune, infact, even when she talks to Jack she seems geniune. Well, let me correct that, she started to seem geniune with her feelings to Jack after the past couple episodes.

Well, he fell for it before.

Remember, this plan was already put in place by Sloan a couple episodes ago when he received the jammer that made him invisible to the Alliance. The only way for him to keep Emily and still live himself was to take the alliance down (With the help of the CIA). Sark at the beginning gave the server info (Server 47) to Syd knowing full well she would take it to the CIA.

From this last episode, you can see that Sloan was typing a message that said syd and jack were double agents - however he deleted that portion before sending it off probably re-thinking his strategy. Oh - remember like 4 or 5 episodes ago when Syd tried to murder Sloan, and Sark knew about the assassination attempt. Thus Sark knew who Syd really was for a while before this. Also remember when Sark handed Sloan the report after the assassination attempt?
When Faye Dunaway (forget her screen name) was the "intelligence" investigator she rooted Jack out and Sloan knew it however he didn't have Jack killed. Remember in the house/appartment when Jack approached Sloan and he didn't do anything. Right after Jack left, Sloan phoned Faye saying he had just met with Jack. Turns out in the end Faye was conning Sloan however the damage was already done.

The Alliance sent Geiger to SD-6 to find out where Sloan had disappeared to. Instead what he found was info that Jack and Syd were double agents. Remember when Geiger said to Jack "There are more red flags in your record than a Soviet Airport" obviously Sloan would have picked up on this, especially when several of the previous missions had failed (Echelon) (Gyroscope) etc...Sloan knew of Syd and Jack's loyalty to the CIA but he had to find out for himself. He found out and thus had to leave SD-6 to save himself from the CIA.

wow! I love this show too... hehe :D

It hasn't been on here in Australia for a while though :(

Last episode I saw was the one with the secret papers which needed some special chemical to read them :D

Hope it comes back on soon, because it is one of my favourite shows :bawling:
