We want to offer folks a place to upload images to be used on forums as avatars etc.
Now I got hol dof photopost and it will be great for the community to share photos etc. But not really ideal for this other service.
Really want something that lets them upload X amount according to status adn just manage it in their own little space. Maybe show the url's so they can copy and paste to wahever they are using in it.
Any ideas?
I have been through hotscripts etc but nothing that really fit the bill...
thanks!

I ran a service like this once, and used u-upload lite(i think thats the name)
Its a java applet which is controlled by various config files where basically they hit browse and upload and it uploads the file to the server using FTP.
It was really simple to set up too.

Ah yes, thanks. Though I really need something where by they can access their own uploaded items and where I can control maybe user permissions in respect of disc space etc.
Like I say I have photopost and checked out a few at hotscripts but none seem to really cater for this kind of thing...

I used WebHost Free (http://www.myidealscript.com/products/webhost_free.html) for a service like this awhile back. I set the maximum account size to 256Kb, I think. However, our business model was flawed and I had to shut the service down because it was costing me more to run than I was making.

Oh, that looks interesting, I wonder if you can limit it to certain files, I have dropped them an eamil to see if you can remove the options for adding forums etc!
Or can you remember if you can do that?
Thanks for the help.

If you're talking about the one that I posted, it seems to me that you could specify either allowed or not-allowed file types, but I'm not 100% sure.

Check out this script... I haven't used it personally, but it looks decent.

Thanks Rockergrrl! Looks like that will do the trick with some modification :-)

:)
Good to see that it'll work for you!
Its not too expensive, but with a little modification, I'm sure it'll do fine.
You might even be able to get something done cheaper (and more indepth) by someone that does freelance coding -- like RentaCoder.com or FreeLance.com, or even over at Yaxay.com, etc.
