On alot of forums out there, I see people judging other people based on their post count. I think those people are very lame. does anybody else hate people who judge based on post count? Do you judge people based on their post count? Post whatever thoughts you have here.

Sorry if I was rambling, i'm very tired.

Post counts don't mean anything. I have more respect for Deb (who only has some 800 or something posts) than i do for people who have joined a couple months ago and already have 2000+ posts (there is at least one member like that out there).

But, it is a lot of fun seeing the numbers go up and up :D

Yes. But, post counts usually don't mean anything to those that have a lot.

Not that it mattered to me when I had a few. But, I really don't remember. It's been so long ago. :D

i tend to judge people on the amount of time they've been here and by the intelligence of their previous posts.

I only really read the lounge, dedicated hosting forum and the offers/requests forums so its probably not very accurate.

Personally I think the post count should be removed. Perhaps the personalized signature could be inplement after xx amount of time. I think it is really childish having a post count at all, and what does it mean anyway people post 20 per day day in and day out ... one has to ask why ... some people are just hovering around the "Congratulations I have xx posts"  is that all this forum is about.

It is ignorant to judge someone based on it. The only thing I care about dealing with it is a custom title because I just want one :stickout:

Other than that, I could care a less about Post # ...

Who cares about post count?

( Adds one more to the count..:stickout: :D )

Hmmmm, I do comment about/within a lot more threads than my post count reveals .... is that a bad thing? I have this horrible habit of 'speaking my mind' and then hitting CTRL+A Backspace :stickout:

Sadly there are people here who view someones importance by the postcount. All the people who get up set if you reply back or start a silly conversation start flaming you about raising your post count.

How could your postcount on these forums really effect how experienced or knowledgable you are.
Doesnt matter like the above said most of the people who get upset about postcounts are the ones with small post counts.

Personally I could care less if I had 5-30000 doesnt matter one bit

Personally, I could care less about post counts and do not judge any member by them unless I see that they just signed on with WHT and are spamming away, etc.

Well, I'll be the first to say that I do for the most part.

If you take a break from WHT and everything thats involved with it for a few days or weeks and then come back, you realize how petty and stupid some of the things are that are talked about, most notably flames, bashing, tearing down other people's offers, etc.

If someone has several thousand posts, the first time I catch something in their threads that relates to any kind of petty topic or flaming, I ignore them (either manually or the handy IGNORE feature here). I don't have time to read someone's post when they are pointing out "arent you a reseller?", "arent you 1x years old?", etc.

Take a few days off and then come back and see how fast you fill up your ignore list.....you'd be suprised.

This used to be a place where you could come and socialize with others in the hosting industry without any fear of being tormented for spelling mistakes, using a reseller account, etc. Now, it's almost pure competition with EVERY post that you make.

I think the post count is a good indication of a lot of this. I normally look at the username before the post count. I've gained a lot of respect for many, many people on here....some of which do have high post counts. I'm not saying I judge JUST based on that, but I pay close attention to a post if I notice a high post count to determine whether or not to read that person's posts in the future.

...probably the only one that feels that way, but oh well.

Post counts don't mean you know more than the next man with fewer post counts, but it do mean you post alot and seen alot of things on that particular board and MAY know what your talking about. :stickout:

Seeing how new information is available hourly, by implying that you know it all, you must be constantly updating your knowlegebase. I understand how you could have a very low post count, but wonder how you even have time to tell us of your very low post count. :D

Personally I only see post counts as a clue that the person is familiar with the forum. Not how much knowledge they have about anything else.

I hardly read the lounge.

I personally never even look at post counts. I can tell who to believe and who not to believe just by the way they speak (type). If someone can respond to a post with at least somewhat proper English an make sense, they have my respect compared to the idiot with 5000 posts and you can hardly make out their post.

So when I read, if people tend to speak with honesty and a general respect for everyone else, then it doesn't matter what number they have by their name, nor how long they have been a member. Even if someone who joined a few months ago has a few thousand posts, if they sound intelligent and honest in their posts, then great. But even if someone has been here for 2 years and only has 500 posts but talks like an idiot, they don't get any respect.

It is just too bad people can't see past the post count and registration dates, and look into other things that prove more about the person than a post count ever could.

I use the postcount and the registration date as a way of balancing the reply or post. I can understand someone posting in the wrong forum, when they have just a few posts, I think I did that kind of misstake as well. A friendly suggestion and a helpful hint, and all is fine. The 1000+ poster who do the same misstake, is just stupid, and needs some sharper warnings. Well, maybe not stupid, but after that many posts they should know WHERE to post.

One thing I don't really like, is when someone new starts to tell me things they don't need to tell me, because they don't compare postcount and reg-date. Those who have been here longer usually "knows" you better. Just imagine, a newbie telling a host (and known poster) how to set up hosting :D
