Hello everybody,

I've been doing some searching and than figured out perhaps I should ask what others could find in this category.

I'm looking for a UNIX account, with 200 MB of space, modest 5 GB bandwidth use. But I want to manage
- as many seperate/distinct domains as possible with different ftp's etc on the same account. So I should be able to host
llkdf.com
fwwrer.org
anynumberofthese.net

with subdirectories, subdomains, distinct ftp's etc - with no extra cost (apart from registering the domain name of course).

- have these domains have subdomains
- unlimited ftp accounts (50 would do actually :)
- unlimited email accounts and as many shells as possible.

I am also a programmer, so I want the sites to have full php+mysql support, and
1) I should be able to have MySQL DB's as I like - at least around a dozen
2) the php, mysql, perl should always be up-to-date (a previous hoster I used didn't update from php3!!)


So as you see, I won't use bandwidth or diskspace a lot, but I need functionality etc. For example, a personal homepage with a CV etc. does not require much bandwidth or diskspace - but I want to have distinct domains/subdomains etc.. for different people, and php+mysql functionality for the tools I'll develop.

I'm willing to spend around 20-30 dollars a month.

All suggestions are welcome, but a little warning: I did some search of my own, and used hosting plans (various companies) so I do know the market a little bit :)

But it looks like you need a basic reseller plan :)

Yes looks like a small reseller account would meet your requirements and there are also some control panels that will allow you to host multiple domains without having to actually have a reseller plan.

I know it looks like I need a reseller plan, but I do not need any of the other stuff that comes with a reseller plan: I'm not interested in selling anything, also I have no need for the DNS to show up my name or anything, nor do I need a private label etc.

Could you provide me with actual names of some companies with this offer?

Not in this formum actually, but in the requests forum they can I think.

Anyway, not all reseller packages make you use your own DNS and such. That's just an added bonus of *some* accounts... not all of them even offer it.

However, what you're wanting *is* a reseller account, even if you're not planning on selling any space or bandwidth. That way you have control over all your domains from one general area and you can easly manage your sites.

I would also recommend using CPanel since you're wanting easy creation of subdomains and MySQL dB's.

The $20-$30 a month price range will give you a good list of options in that forum... probably even lower. Don't just go for the cheap ones though. Make sure that the host is good with support.

People can reply here suggesting webhosts as long as it's not their own...

I think the best bet these days is to stay away from the requests forum, as 90% of hosts are unreliable :rolleyes:
