Todays Wall Street Journal has the info. adel 05-11-2001, 08:24 PM what do you mean? Annette 05-11-2001, 08:56 PM Colo.com filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. He wants people that might have used colo.com's facilities to contact him, probably because most people will not understand the difference between a reorganization/protection from creditors (like Chapter 11) and complete bankruptcy and dissolution of a company (Chapter 7) and will panic. Planet Z 05-11-2001, 09:06 PM Indeed. However, even though filing for Chapter 11 is not as bad as actually going bankrupt, it's still not a great sign. I can understand why people would be somewhat concerned when the company they're hosting with or considering hosting with has to file for Chapter 11. Josh Hostking 05-11-2001, 10:50 PM Annette have you seen any of the telecom companies in our industry that have filed for chapter 11 come out of it and not sold off their assets? I would love to hear a couple comeback stories. Best Regards, RackMy.com 05-12-2001, 12:16 AM Take a look at ValueWeb, they have. Annette 05-12-2001, 10:56 AM No, it isn't a great sign. It does not mean that people have to make a panicked exit from whatever service they are using just because of that and without investigating any of their available options. It's obvious this is not the DSL company that went under, stranding users with <48 hours notice, nor is it MarchFirst, filing Chapter 11 and then being forced to file Chapter 7 a scant two days later. People have the attention span of gnats anyway, and trying to increase the level of FUD doesn't win points, at least not with me or most of the people I know. |
