I have a new customer who claims to have contacted Network Solutions and requested them to change his name server settings.

He says that Network Solutions told him that websurface.net was not registered with them, and until the domain was (websurface.net is my domain, not his) registered with them, they would not make the changes.

I think this is a misunderstanding between this customer and network solutions, it HAS to be... it just sounds too insane.

My name servers are registered, nobody has ever had a problem doing this before (except for the usual Network Solutiuon problems).

I am posting this here in case somebody out there has a client that has had a similar misunderstanding.

According to Network Solutions' whois, the domain is registered with OpenSRS, not Network Solutions.

Domain Name: WEBSURFACE.NET
Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
Referral URL: www.opensrs.org
Name Server: NS.WEBSURFACE.NET
Name Server: NS2.WEBSURFACE.NET
Updated Date: 27-aug-2000

In order to change the DNS information for his domain, he needs to contact the company that he registered his domain through-OpenSRS.

I wonder if your customer is a bit confused. They could have just submtted a change in servers form at NSI. Your nameservers are obviously registered.

If your customer has had their domain name for at least 60 days, they should go ahead and transfer it to 000domains.com/OpenSRS, or some other better registrar. With OpenSRS, they could just log in and change the name server information (or have you do it for them),. They wou't even have to put in the IP addresses, just the server names.
