stephenM 01-22-2003, 03:16 PM AHEM, whoever is thinking of purchasing these servers, DON'T. They are AWFUL, I was with them for a time and they literally had more downtime than uptime, for godsake don't waste your time with these lamers.
dedipower 01-22-2003, 04:09 PM Stephen,
Ah, the joys of WHT! No wait...
Perhaps you would like to enlighten us with who you are. Your comments are unfair and incorrect. I suspect you were a customer of a reseller, and the only reference we can see was you were perhaps a colo customer, and the only recorded downtime was due to you crashing *your* server through mis-configuring the network setting. I'm also guessing you're one of the customers we banned from our service due to continuous DoS attacks. Perhaps you would like to substantiate your claim with something useful?
Since you obviously have some sort of issue with our company, I ask that you contact me (craig@asuk.com) to discuss your problem.
For the record, for anybody who is considering our service and want independent references on it's quality (from current customers), contact me and I can provide you with LOTS of email contact of customers who would be happy to vouch for us!
Thanks
We have a secondary DNS server with dedipower. The dedipower network did have it's ups and downs 6 to 8 months ago, however things seem to have improved since then, but seeing as we only run a DNS server from it I can really comment on total availability.
Going a bit O/T, why is dedipowers warning level set to 7 ?

Look "Dedipower", I'm not interested in arguing with you. I am simply warning people that the service provided from you was less than satisfactory, and the way you immediately start throwing the blame at others just proves that you are too weak to even admit it. I'm not going to waste any more time arguing with you. If somebody is considering "Dedipower" as a host they are welcome to contact me and I will happily substantiate my accusation.
dedipower 01-22-2003, 04:49 PM Hi Matt -
Hope all is going well!
Our warning level got put up because Spencer posted a few posts which were a bit 'over-the-line' and considered advertising (in the non advertising forums). They were just removed and thus we ended up with a few warning points... Spencer now understands the rules ;-) Nothing too drastic!
Craig

I don't take issue with the fact that you feel there were problems with the service you had. Any company our size with hundreds of customers is bound to end up with a few unhappy ones! My problem is:
1) You're basically posting anonymous (for all we know you could be a competitor)
2) You don't back up your claim with any real information.
3) You arrogantly call the team that work here extremely hard (myself on average 8 or 9 hours a day almost everyday of the week) 'lamers'. When BT screwed my phone line for 2 days, I didn't call all the engineers that came to fix it 'lamers' and other insults. It's just not what adults do! It's not fair - do you think we want problems? Of course not, no company does.
I'm not getting involved in another one of these pointless WHT debates.
stephenM 01-22-2003, 05:02 PM Like I said, any prospective client who would like reasons to my accusations can PM me. This isn't the place for a flame war.
mikeh 01-22-2003, 07:00 PM Well, i am sure that dedipower are a quality service, i had a dedicated server with them when they were still selling servers under asuk.com, and i thought it was great, since then i undertstand their network and connectivity have increased alot, also very quick responses, even now with reseller questions.
Mike.

Steve, although this isn't the correct place for such discussion, at a minimum, you need to justify a post like this. If you are either unable to or unwilling to, your posts in this thread will be removed.
stephenM 01-22-2003, 08:34 PM I had a Co-Located box from them a while back. Their network stability was very poor, a lot of outages, and they were for a long period of time. Also, when I required technical assistance, I phoned them and asked for my server to be rebooted. I was told it would be done that night (this was 6pm). It wasn't rebooted until 1PM the next day. I find that completely unacceptable and people need to know. If they have improved since that time, then good for them. But I find their attitude of "denying it" even more lame.
dedipower 01-22-2003, 08:47 PM Stephen,
Please remember we log every call/ticket. You requested the reboot at 6:41pm, and it's made pretty clear with our service that reboot are only between 9am-5pm unless you purchase a higher SLA agreement or are willing to pay a call-out.
The ticket then shows the server was rebooted at 10:12:50AM the next morning...
For the record, the day after (according to our ticket system), you mis-configured network routes on your server. The request to fix them came in at 6:32pm and your server was fixed at 7:12pm that same evening. Funny how people have a selective memory!
I denied the fact that you stated we have more downtime then uptime which is completely false. Because you didn't give any more information I couldn't comment further.
Finally, we did have a month or so when we had a lot of problems with DDoS attacks (it's documented in another thread somewhere). These were all aimed at servers running IRC services. Since then we have changed our AUP to ban IRC (I believe this is why your co-lo was terminated - because it was running IRC). Since then we have not had <touch wood> another DDoS attack. As seen in other threads, it can be extremely hard to deal with DDoS attacks, and it's not really to do with "network stability".
Kind Regards
speedcom 01-22-2003, 09:10 PM Dedipowers services are very good in my opinion. We used to have a dedicated server under them and experienced almost no downtime at all, although I would not know about recent times I know that they are reliable. His responses are very speedy, and he is very patient.

When did you co-locate with them? What's a while back? How long ago is that?
Were you running an IRCd?
Stop pretending to be a bully and answer the questions. That way we can form an opinion of your allegations against this company. ;)
