$5 per gigabyte of transfer is a lot. You might want to lower that or offer discounts if bought in bulk.
KDAWebServices 05-10-2001, 02:21 PM 100% Uptime, now that is something I would want written on a paper contract. Also i it based on monthly network performance? Yearly?

with 100% network uptime guarantee, then it can be based on any period of time, yearly, monthly, weekly, daily, or even hourly... Even 5 seconds of network outage at any time would surely mean less than 100% of network uptime :D
Anyway, I think $5/GB is really expensive.... :( no prepurchase discount? BTW, what method of bandwith measurement do you use?
cheers,
KDAWebServices 05-10-2001, 02:32 PM Good point Dektong, I'll re-phrase myself: Is it based on the network having 100% conectivity or it is based on the server(s) remaining 100% connected and up, because I know there are times when the rest of the network is up but certain segments may not be, such as when a router stops doing its job for certain IPs.
RackMy.com 05-10-2001, 03:30 PM Thanks for all the great responses. Here the answers to your questions.
1. Yes, we give our 100% Uptime SLA in writing.
2. Yes, $5.00/GB is not the lowest price in town, but you get a 100% Uptime SLA agreement (which no one is doing) with no minimum monthly & bandwidth commitment. We do offer discounts for multiple month contracts (min 6 month) & for prepaid blocks of bandwidth.
3. We guarantee 100% uptime to your equipment (server, switch, router, etc.).
4. We measure actual outgoing bandwidth. Not 95th percentile (unless you want it setup like that :) )
If you have any other questions, just let me know.
KDAWebServices 05-10-2001, 04:15 PM I must say I am impressed already, you have a very commendable attitude and you must know your stuff real well or be real dumb - and from what you've said so far I'm pretty sure the latter does not apply to you.
I will be keeping my eyes on you for future reference.
RackMy.com 05-10-2001, 05:26 PM Karl,
Thanks for the kind words :) We strive to offer the best services possible for our customers!
I am sorry to say this, but it is kinda confusing what you said. you said :
"We guarantee 100% uptime to your equipment (server, switch, router, etc.). "
you are not doing Ded. Servers, you are doing Co-lo, am I right???
well then how can you guarantee 100% uptime to my server!! my server can go down any time, and all of us here knows that even the best servers in the market sometime need a reboot!! so if I ask you for a reboot for my server, it is going to take you more then 10 min to reboot it!!! this is not a 100% uptime.
I have been working in networking for years, and I Know, at least the network I am running in right now have an uptime of 99.999807098 for this year. however, we will never try to tell our clients that we will guarantee 100% uptime!
Ok, if you want down for 5 sec for this month, then how much will I get as a Cr.???
I know a host here in this fourm that offer 100% uptime guarantee. however, in their site it say that if their network or power goes down for more then an hour, they will give you some of your money back!! SO THIS IS NOT 100% UPTIME, THIS IS 99.8% UPTIME!
offering a 100% UPTIME means that you are going to give me back some of my monthly payment for each sec your network goes down.!
RackMy.com 05-10-2001, 06:51 PM Hello jman,
Don't be sorry, all comments & questions are welcome :)
I think you are a little confused. Our 100% Network Uptime SLA only applies to the network connection that we provide to your server (and/or other equipment). This 100% Uptime SLA does not include our dedicated servers, just our colocation services.
If your server's software locks up and you need a reboot, we are still supplying 100% network availability to your system. We have no control over when or how your server’s software will performs. Make sense?
BTW, great job having 99.999% uptime. That is something to be very proud of :)
