View Full Version : Is VDI going to be OK?

I know there's been some trouble with VDI lately, but with a few hosts leaving, and the new update that's in the works, (or is it completed?) are they going to be able to provide fast, reliable service to their hosts?

I'm considering a host that is on VDI, and this will certainly have an impact on my decision.

I appreciate any information.

Thanks,
Andy

i believe they had a 5min downtime just few hours ago... and next thing we know after they were back up is that their new OC3 was transferring data! :)

this oc3 has been awaited by many WHT users... i just hope that VDI will not have further problems

It all depends they lost about 50% of their revenue from their largest customers pulling out from what I hear, and now that they installed a expensive oc3, im guessing they would be operating at a loss for a while, so basically I think it all boils down too whether they can sign up enough new customers to replace all the ones that pull out plus the cost of the bandwidth upgrade.

I hear VDI is paying for the OC3 based on the traffic they use. So, if it only pushed 40 MBPS thats what they pay, not for the whole thing. Even if there was revenue loss they should be able to cover expenses.

I don't know how long term of a fix this will be. I have been with VDI for over 2 years now there seems to be a trend of bad network problems, temporary solve of the problem for a while, then more problems. Hopefully this will be the last one ;)

VDi did not loose 50% of it`s revenues :) Yes certain clients did leave, VDI could not blame them due to the conditions. We would hope that they would maintain thier current business with us, but lets hope the new lines would convice them to stay.

VDI has underestimated the growth, and the new Bandwidth and the future bandwidth will hold VDI for years to come. Vdi has added additional staff to handle the growth trend that is expected.

The upgrade is complete and another additonal Oc3 will be added shortly . Now you can fully advertise, we can take all the clients you can pass on to us.

Thanks for hanging in there for the 4 weeks, and please let us know what we can do to improve your business.

Support and Billing has been the fly in the ointment for Alabanza. Their connection have been fair to good. I remember that slowdown we all had a few months ago but it never really amounted to more than that (a week or so). A month of downtimes and promises would have had me running a mile. It does appear VDI is on the mend again though...

Alabanza has it's own problems with Jumpline bailing out to their own NOC now and setting a new web admin system to rivel theirs (according to the Jumpline news page)

can someone say shakedown? :D

VDI will be fine for sure since many of big companies with VDI have left, not to mention that VDI has recently installed new OC-3 line. I just wish they had installed OC-3 line before things got bad but oh well.

Just for the record, 3 - 4 have stated they are leaving, only 1 has actully left. I`m sure since everything os fixed, they would leave some servers here while we are back on tra ck once again.

Thanks :)
