Hi all (I love this place!)

I have a reseller account with OLM and with that I have purchesed the Name Server option.

Unfortunately I can't seem to register my nameservers with Network Solutions.

I tried several times, but always get:

We have received your request to register or modify a host record. However, we are unable to process it at this time because we cannot verify its authenticity.

We have sent an e-mail notification message to Guardians for this host and the domain name where the host resides, asking for their approval or disapproval of the change you have asked for. We will follow the first set of instructions we receive.

And this is the last I hear from them.

I notified OLM of the problem and a few days later I received this response from OLM.

Those have now been registered through nameregistars.net (A member
of CORE registries), and you can now bring them to network solutions to be
registered there.

Today I tried to register them with Network Solutions and got the same response.

Since they are listed with nameregistrars, do I need to have them listed with Network Solutions as well?

If so, how do I get around this problem of verifying my authenticity?

The name servers should be registered at the same registrar where the actual domain is registered.

"The horrors! The horrors!"

well... it is true that the nameservers need to be registered with the registrar of the domain...

however, it is also true that even after you create your nameservers at your registrar, you also need to get NetSol to put your nameserver in their database so that NetSol's customers can point to your nameservers (if necessary)

i also had this problem... i tried many times without success

what i recently did was I submitted all the info required for the host record registration at NetSol... and they give you a NIC number... call NSI and tell them you're having problem creating a nameserver using their online form and also tell them that your domain was registered somewhere else but you would like NetSol to add your nameservers into their database... you need to provide the NetSol reps the NIC number assigned when received email after you've submitted the host record form

some reps are really dumbfounded when you tell them what you're trying to do... others know what you are talking about and adds them for you but requires you to wait 24-72 hours before nameservers are actively in their database

good luck, might take a couple of phone calls :)

I did have my own (DNS)nameservers with a certain Host just for the experience where they configured my domain name to resolved to their server.

They however reminded me that although it looks as if you own a server when someone do a "whois" check but there are other ways to check whether you really own a server such as doing a traceroute which will resolve to your Host's server.

Now I tell my prospective clients that I am a reseller whenever the prospective client ask me this question"Do you have your own server?" and they really appreciated my honesty and sincerity. Off course I have my ways to convince them which is strictly P&C why I am a reseller and in most cases the deal is closed.
