i am with 4webspace for 3 months and my rating are :
reliability : :) x4
speed : :) x5
support : :) x5
i dont know about others, but i have been experiencing good loading speed. and for the support both email and 24/7 chat room support are very good and effective ... i love the chat room support (really 24/7 even on holidays and weekends) as i am not able to call up the office :)
as for reliability, i have experienced some down time of my site, but that was for like 5 mins and it was 2 months ago :)
-Edward- 05-09-2001, 04:47 PM I'm a 100% 4webspace.com fan. Steve Lam has been fantastic today getting our currpted databases fixed. The support lately and over the past year has been amazing from this company.
The speed has increased again .... omg they are so good! ... wonder if theyll pay me for this ? :D

Does rackshack have a firewall between your server and the rest of the internet?
Does 4webspace have a firewall between your server and the rest of the internet?
kickster 05-09-2001, 05:51 PM good question Mike. I dont know the answer!
-Edward- 05-09-2001, 05:53 PM 4webspace does!
RackShack - Dont think so!
Chris 05-09-2001, 08:08 PM I believe rackshack is better, I do not need 24/7 monitoring and other features, so why pay for them when I can do other alternatives that are free?
Also I think I have more options with rackshack, I can make deals with askmesurfer on bandwith purchasing and other upgrades over and above what it says on the page.
Sorry for my English:(
Did yoy know if 4webspace have a contract ?
Also what your opinion about http://www.datapipe.net
http://www.datapipe.com/cobaltraqpricing.htm
I am also a 4webspace fan. but with 101% :p .
My ratings for 4ws is
Speed : 5/5
Reliability : 4.8/5
Support : 4.5/5
And I don't think that they have any contract.
By the way, I heard some bad things about rackshack. Someone in some forum complainted that rackshack has bad support. I am not sure about that. Just think that it might be a good info for you. :)

You should really consider support as one of your priorities, if someday your server is down for apparentely no reason and you can't access it by ftp, neither by web, nor by telnet you'll wish someone will answer really quickly at the other side of the phone.
dektong 05-10-2001, 11:15 PM why pay $29/mo for server monitoring? why can't you use free monitoring software which will page you/email you if the server goes down within at least one hour (eg. qwkmon.com)?
To make a fair comparison, rackshack includes 150GB of transfer, 4webspace includes only 100GB of transfer, how much extra/mo does 4webspace charge you for the 50GB of extra transfer?
How about mysql, php, chilisoft... will 4webspace install this for free on their raq4s?
regards,
-dave

Yea, I think so... just want to make sure since in 4webspace.com order page, these are add-ons both for raq3 and raq4 (their new page order page is more confusing than the old one... also no info regarding bandwith overage charge?).
cheers,
-Edward- 05-11-2001, 04:01 AM $3 per extra gigabyte. An RAQ would die before passing over 150 GB
