View Full Version : Question? How often does phpmanager's Site go down?
WFSWebServ 01-19-2003, 07:07 AM Is it just me or is it down alot?
I have only been involved with this site and phpmanager for just over a week. In that time their site was down at least twice and I have read comments about the site being down a fair bit, thus affecting the usage of their product.
Oh yeah....it's down now too. Went down as I was scanning their forum and doing some updates to my member account.
Kinda concerns me and makes me wonder if I should have gone for a more expensive product (new start-up) which is stable and has a good support network.
Reliability = Profitability.
Oh...btw...not a knock on the product (I do like it)...instead this is just raising a concern about, to be honest, the viability of the company.
Crazy BigGaz 01-19-2003, 08:31 AM Hi,

partang2 01-19-2003, 08:32 AM I bought phpmanager about a week ago, and it is the most error filled script I ever seen! Keep away from this guys! Take a look in their supportforum and you will see.
Locutus 01-19-2003, 03:38 PM Hi,

as for the server going down, yes apache went down again today. We are investigating into this problem as to why it keeps going down.

WFSWebServ 01-19-2003, 06:23 PM I know a good hosting service with a good uptime record :D
VNPIXEL 01-19-2003, 10:21 PM do not use the new version (1.1) Use 1.0, you will not be effect if their server is down.
I wish PHPManagers customers did not suffer when their site went down.
Crazy BigGaz 01-20-2003, 05:30 AM Hi,
They made a new config file for php manager 1.1, which I haven't installed yet but it meant to fix the problem.

Garry

Umm didn't install it properly?
Maybe you didn't program it properly. This script works on and off like a yo-yo. Your server goes offline so my order system does as well, that doesn't seem well thought out to me.
Why not make them completely seperate?
Locutus 01-20-2003, 03:07 PM Hi,
they are compeletely seperate.
the new config.php file was posted several days ago which addresses this problem
jmb1881 01-20-2003, 03:28 PM if i was you, id move from a system that relys on another website to help keep the script alive

I want to make sure I understand correctly:
Are you saying that the updated phpmanager doesn't check back with your server? If I buy phpmanager now then I will have no problems using it if your server goes down in the future?
C0ldHost 01-20-2003, 04:52 PM I have been with modernbill for about 2 months and thay are the best the support is there all the time and there site is never down and it dont cost much if you wanna pay by monthy..
Take a look at there site at http://www.modernbill.com/
Hope this helps
thomor25 01-20-2003, 07:22 PM I was gonna buy this program but after this crap i'm not sure....
I think he should only have it done upon install or do something where if the server goes down it gives the server 48 hours -72 hours to come back online before this happens....
Personally I don't want a program that relies on his server and database... What if his database gets currupted? Or whenever an earthquake happens and the dataceter goes down or something, we are all ****ed.
I think you should make a program that when you enter the servers ip its produces a code and you gotta put this code into phpmanager in order to activate it because phpmanager will check the ip or something to that effect.
I shouldn't have to deal with this as a webmaster, especially when I rely on that software for clients and it goes down you could lose alot of business....
client-client isp-my isp-myserver-software-his isp-his server-cctaker's isp-cctaker
that chain above is too big and if one link fails your screwed.... Remove that feature or find some other way its not fair to us.....
Locutus 01-22-2003, 06:06 PM Hi,
the latest config.php file (that was released few days ago) does NOT rely on our database anymore.
if our server goes down, your script will still run.

are you gonna modify the old code so if I buy it tomorrow I won't have to download your fix?
Locutus 01-23-2003, 06:43 PM Hi,
the full scripts you download have all the latest updates.
