Hi All,

Double Question for you...

1) Does anyone know or have any extensive information as per the Cobalt RaQ 4i mail system (POP/AOP) apart from thats is located in /home/spool/mail ? Specifically I would like to get hold of some technical information as to how it works, header management etc. etc. I've had a look at the 4i Management PDF's but they're basically useless on any major technical subject.

2) Does anyone know or have any extensive information about the List-Serv capabilities of the RaQ's. It exists and I'm currently running 3 of them - but I've not found a good resource for information on Administrative commands. Second to that is the fact that users 'subscribing' to a list-serv on my 4i get failure messages from major-domo if one of the following occurs:

(a) They send a HTML request, e.g. html email including 'subscribe list-name' - they can subscribe fine if they send a plain text message but this seems like a stupid issue and one I'd like to resolve.

(b) They send an email with 'subscribe list-name' as the subject, they in turn get errors returned from the major-domo. Again, this is stupid because it limits me from advertising the sign up to a list as:

<a href="mailto:majordomo@mydomain?subject=subscribe listname">Subscribe Listname</a>

This in particular ticks me off.

Any thoughts/feedback/slander/etc is welcome...

moz.

All,

Just hoping to get a response from someone as per this - I know there are some Cobalt savvy people around.

... thanks.

This is for the Raq 4 ... I would assume that Raq 3's use something similar.

The pop3 server is Qpopper. Check your inetd.conf to make sure. There should be a line like this:

pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.qpopper -R

This specifies that pop-3 services are to be ran using qpopper.

Mailing List
I think Majordomo is the mailing list utility used on the Raqs. The main home page is at:
http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/
And there are a lot of tutorials on the web for managing majordomo lists...
