Hi:
Are there people here that use NetMechanic's Server tool to check the reliability of his/her server? The tool I'm talking about is: http://netmechanic.com/server_check/site_monitoring.htm I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on how well an indicator NetMechanic is in gauging any problems with a server uptime/reliability. For example, if the report is poor, does it mean rather definitively that somewhere in the world, your server is poor as far as connectivity, or can there be "misdiagnosis?"

The reason I ask this is because I currently have a site that consistently returns "Poor" on NetMechanic, and I mean consistent. Thing is, for the most part, the site always loads fast for me, so it's hard to do anything else but speculate. Emailing the web host I get the run around, saying the report could be due to a dozen of factors, non of which reflect the true reliability of their service. U-hmm. Hence my question here- how conclusion is NetMechanic's (or similar services) reports, especially after a stretched out period?

Thanks,

I've used it many times in the past. They have always been very accurate and reliable for me.

The machine I am on now I had on Netmechanic monitoring for a few weeks before I made the move. It has been as reliable as Netmechanic said it was..:)

My experience with NetMechanic, and other similar services, is that they are NO good in the indication of a servers uptime/reliability.

The web host you mention about is quite correct.
