I'm thinking of getting hosting from www.darkfiles.net. Has anyone had any experience with them or know anything about thier system.

Would you say they're a nay or yay on purchasing from them?

thx,
S

I don't like what I see and would suggest looking elsewhere.

Reasons are:

* No where on the site is there any real contact info except for one webmaster email link. A email form just doesn't cut it.
* Unsecured order process until you get forwarded to Paypal.
* No TOS/AUP
* Hosting plans which may be over selling

Also a simple whois lookup shows their domain is hosted by ANONCITIES.COM which in turn get's bounced to RackShack.net

Not an out fit I'd give my credit card number to.

Not to mention the price.

$3.00 for 500 megs of space and 8 gigs of bandwidth?

Here today, gone tomorrow.....

This is why there is no such thing as a stupid question. WHOIS info alone says that these guys are to be avoided:

whois -h whois.crsnic.net darkfiles.net ...

i can offer unlimited space and 8gb transfer for $4 a month. i don't see how i'll go out of business either. i can get a fairly big profit margin with that price

I was hoping this was a joke but since it isn't.....

You're full of it!

I've never seen an "unlimited" harddrive so you are lying through your teeth telling me you can give me "unlimited" space.

I'd avoid you as well...

What size are your server hard drives?

well i'm sorry you don't like us, watcher_tv1. if the hard-drive gets full, we get more. at least i'm not saying i'm giving away "unlimited bandwidth".

thanks for asking phpcoder, our hard-drives are 60GB

i will answer any more questions!

You can only fit so many hard drives in a server but I guess you don't know that yet.

Actually, unlimited bandwidth on a server is possible if you could finance it. Unlimited space is not possible so yet again you prove your foolishness which suits us all down to the ground.

Ok I got 100 TeraBit's worth of data ....Want to give that to me for $4.00 a month?

Give me a break. It's not you I don't like it's deception. There is a limit to how many harddrives you'll buy for someone at 4.00 a month and saying otherwise is completely untrue....

you seriously need to refer to a dictionary before you try to be smart again

bandwidth: a data transmission rate; the maximum amount of information (bits/second) that can be transmitted along a channel (yes i'm sure you can get infinite mbps)
transfer: the total amount of data transfered from one computer to another over a span of time

there's a big difference there buddy

Oh, go away. You won't see bandwidth used a term for transfer on our site. I was just using it as a generalisation - and your ethics still suck.

Sure you can, it's right on the shelf next to those unlimited harddrives.......

bah, try uploading that and see what your ISP does to you :D.
anyway, i don't own the servers. i pay for accounts on a server, each with 10 gb of transfer and i can offer as much space as i want.
yes i can understand why you are not very happy and i'm sorry.
maybe i should rephrase it as unmetered webspace?

Josh, what's the link to your great hosting site? Is it related to Darkfiles.net? I'm lost.

Here is a radical thought.

Why don't you just try telling people the truth?
