I am thinking about moving my hosting to site5 and I am wondering if anyone has any problems with site5 or any reasons I shouldn't move? Also does any one know any host that will let you host more than one site on one account?

On the Ultimate Plan i was wondering if any one knows what the "Sub-leasing/ multi-hosting allowed" section is.

Actually, I am with Site5 right now. They are the best hositng company I have ever been with. Their support is very good and fast. If you have a question, just e-mail them and you can have an answer anwhere from 2 minutes to an hour. If you ICQ them, its pretty much instantly. Very good.

The Ultimate Plan is very nice, but as for the "Sub-Leasing/Mutli-Hosting Allowed", I would say you are gonna have to e-mail them. I think it means you can host multiple domains, but I doubt it.

E-mail them at sales@site5.com

You will not be dissappointed. :)

Is site5 a reseller for anyone? Not that it's a bad thing, just asking 'cause I'm looking.

Also, seems like I remember a post somewhere (not sure where) about them being co-located with Burst. I had read that Burst was having some problems with downtime. Is site5 also experiencing these problems?

Thanks!

I was trying to do a traceroute to Site5's server to see if it is co-located but none of them are working, they all just timeout. I am on a slow connection so that might be the problem. If someone wouldn't mide could you do a traceroute of Site5.com and post the results. -Thanks

I can't get it either, destination host unreachable...However, from what I did see, it's running through a provider backboned with qwest...The 15 hops I could get were identical to burst.net, truehosting.com *cringe*, vdi.net, and awardhosting.com *cringe*, they *CLAIM* they are not a reseller, which is possible, but they do run off of qwest, which should be good...

Burst.Net, Site5, and a lot of other hosts are all based in the vdi.net facility. Site5 is not a reseller- it owns or leases the servers from VDI. They do not, however, own the NOC- VDI.NET does. You should note, however, that the VAST MAJORITY of hosts today do not own their own NOC, and lease or co-locate elsewhere to either get a better connection (OC3's aren't dropped into offices, and costs for T3 or T1 lines can be tremendous) or just for a better price.

Hi,
I had web hosting account with Site5 for six month now and I really hate it. They were co-located with Burst.net but then they moved to new co-location provider. They also had large downtime and as we speak their servers are down. I would say they have good services as far as customer and tech support goes but downtimes are really bad. As far as it goes for help e-mail me at vladgil@nccw.net or come to ICQ #50498602 and I'll help you. Please tell me exactly what do you need and what's the problem. I am an internet services specialist and provide advice and set up to customers in Cleveland Area. So if you need anything just e-mail me.
Sincerely,
Vlad Gil

Hmm, I was thinking of going with Site5.com myself, but I've yet to receive a reply to a question I sent their sales people yesterday.

Also, I'm not able to access www.motion5.com (http://www.motion5.com)

ANyone got their coustomer support numbers...

ps. Why isnt their subdomain feature working !! They should have told me that this feature is still being implemanted....

Motion5 is accessible for me.

Matt is Offline ALOT, but if you ICQ him, you usually get an ICQ 20 seconds later.

Site5 is nothing comparable to BurstNET. Their uptime is very better.

I am a site5.com customer and while I really like the tech support people (when they are online and answering ICQ) their downtime stinks. I've stuck with them for the past two months, hoping they will get their stuff together....I'm waiting now to determine if they are going to be able to get my website up and running with better uptime....I feel kinda foolish for being patient and waiting it out...

Anyone have another choice for me to look at? Burst has been down alot too...I can't stand the idea of switching hosts only to discover that I've moved but bad to badder...

Stick with Site5 just a little bit longer. I am going to have multiple domains hosted by them very soon. My current account is very good, but if it improves, I will transfer 4-5 more over to Site5.

Matt asures me that everything is being taken care of.

If you join now, you will most likely be put on the server I sit on. I joined first of april/end of march...I'm on the only server, it seems with space. I've asked them to move me to another of their servers, but this isn't possible since all the IP's for those servers are used up.

So, you are probably sitting on one of the other 4 servers that is wonderful and having excellent uptime. The group on this server suffers from terrible terrible daily downtimes...in fact in the last 7 weeks, I've only had one week that was up continually. The rest of the time I've spent with outages for one reason or another. Matt has assured me all will be well, but I keep hearing that from him...and I no longer get assurances. Like I've said, they are more than nice. But I need my site on a reliable server. I am still hoping a miracle happens....but I'm not expecting it anymore. I'm looking for a new home.

We use Dual P III's and RAID through Alabanza, so downtime both on server and connection is very minimal. Sounds like Site5 may have bigger problems with such severe downtime numbers. We'll get your site up.

Kathy, moving from site5 to Burst would get you off that server (same network, similar control panel). While I personally have no complaints with Burst's support, people have been complaining that it has slowed. They have more clients than site5 and recently took on an additional 2000 accounts, so my guess is that will keep them busy for a bit. If you are like me, so long as things are running right, you don't need a whole lot of support.

Aside from Burst, you might also want to check dids.com which is similar to site5 (smaller company than Burst on the same network). They might give you faster support since as far as I know, they aren't quite as big yet (but I could be wrong!).

All hosts on that network have been having some difficulties with the network due to this or that, but I think these problems are being worked on, and within a month be much better.

Otherwise, from what I have heard, Alabanza servers and service seems good (one of the hosts that uses them posted above, but there are many hosts using alabanza), and OLM runs a good ship, but price some of their services out of my range. They ask $20/gig for additional bandwidth, where as site5 gives you more to start with and (I think it is $12/g) less for additional.

I just looked up their site...
Hmmmmmmm...I mean...it sounds good.
But do they offer domain pointing at all??
Besides that..are they a certified company or are there many people that are having problems with that..not just the down time..
even though if their problems are staying like other people said here b4..then it doesn't matter if they are reliable or not..
cause then they suck anyway *lol*

What are all the hosts located in the vdi.net facility. Im starting to make a list. The reason I am wondering this is because I think they only have one line for all of the hosts and that might not be good.

Here is my list so far (correct me if im wrong),
vdi.net
burst.net
site5.com
dids.com

Guess it doesn't take much to impress you, does it? They are up for the last week or two, after being down a ton, and that impresses you?
