is anyone out there writing a Psychology thesis for a PHd?

On Friday we sent a notice to all our hosting customers notifying them that on Monday we would have two servers offline from 12:00 - 17:00 EST while they were being moved to another NOC.

For various reasons it was postponed until Thursday.

before we could get an e-mail out about the change of plan I got three e-mails saying:

"The length of this down time is unacceptible - when will me site be back up?"

[no sites were down, we hadn't actually done anything..... and there was no down time recorded for any other reason...]

After the "move" we got another e-mail saying:

"This is a huge improvement - everything is so much faster."

Remember - nothing had happened, they just *thought* it had.

Now, the question is, how can I use this previously unknown psychic ability to persuade people to give me large sums of money?

How about sending out a message that you're going to "upgrade" service at no charge. See how many people think it's an "improvement"! ;)

Or even better, send out a message that you're going to "upgrade" service for a little one time fee :)
