I am kind of new to web hosting.

What exactly are domain pointers and how can I use them?

Can I use them for a domain name "A" to point to a sub domain of domain "B" and there save money not needing an additional host?

Thanks!

Hi fish,

What do you mean by domain pointers? Do you mean url redirection through your registrar??
Yes, you can use a pointer to redirect someone from A to subdomain.ofb.com , but remember that most shared hosting providers dont like this, because that way, you might actually use up all the resources you pay for! :D.

Theres many ways to do this, url cloaking, redirection, getting a free service, etc.

That's close. Pointed domains allow you to direct traffic for domainb.com to a subfolder of domaina.com. Note that many hosts will do this for you, either through an automated method or manually, depending on their systems, but that in most cases, there is no separate email functionality for the pointed domain - that is, email for anyone@domainb.com will typically go to the default mailbox on domaina.com.

Is it possible to use a service like everyone.net for mail on domainb?

Sorry, I probably should have included other options for pointed domains. :)

Yes, it is possible to use a third party solution such as everyone.net or bigmailbox.com for pointed domains/subdomains. The only caveat is that your host be willing to modify the MX records for the pointed domain to use the third party service, unless you use a registrar that will allow you to make those modifications yourself.
